Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Why All The DEI Hate??

Why is there so much hate for DEI in this forum?

I'm assuming that this forum is primarily white men. So I ask you white men directly - what about DEI upsets you?

And if this forum is primarily minorities and women - I ask you the same question - what about DEI upsets you?

There are no wrong answers. This is a 'safe space'. You can feel welcome to share 'your truth' here.

I'm not opposed to anyone in any job, welcome diversity. The problem is that Ford is trying to play catch-up from years of discriminatory practice. In practice, this results in many DEI candidates being forced into positions for which they are grossly unqualified. This can't help but be harmful for the business.

Pro-DEI here - it beats the heck out of nepotism being the main pathway to hiring as it has been for decades.

Indeed! Homogeneity leads to confirmation bias.

It is a proven fact that diverse teams make better decisions than homogeneous teams.

He isn't asking for DEI research. He is asking for people's opinions on why DEI is so hated within this forum. This is literally the place to ask - and one of the many benefits that this forum offers. Open conversation with the people being impacted.

I am not White, but am firmly against any selection process where meritocracy and proof of on job delivery is not the primary criteria. If all things are equal/equivalent between candidates then I don't have much issue in diversity playing a factor. But nepotism and bias where the best candidate for the job is not selected is wrong. I don't care what color or belief the person is, do your work well and go home.

It is discrimination.

This response is not from a white.

Qualified DEI does not need special treatments.
Unqualified DEI more likely makes bad decisions. Bad for the company.
DEI makes DEI favorable decisions. Another type of discrimination.

You could ask a similar question to folks who still support TFG. And you'll get similar answers. Change is terrifying ....
