Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Schwab executive snakes using this an an opportunity to reduce headcount

Simple as that. This isn't about in person collaboration. Most teams are spread all over the place and are no longer in the same location. And since we bought TDA is way more spread out. Our team doesn't have a single person in the same location as another.

The executives finally get their last laugh after years of promising all of us that we will keep WFH in place for those that want it. I'm in Arizona and bought a house in Prescott during the pandemic. Sc--w this company

Ways leadership could potentially care:

  1. large number of employees on critical project quitting at once and putting them at risk
  2. not enough employees quitting meaning their headcount reduction master plan didn’t work

Both unlikely, so they could not care less about what happens to us

Better yet, how is this in person collaboration going to happen when half the employees are in India?

Yeah? And I remember the dot-com run-up. Stock splits every month, employees flush with stock options. Advisors out the bu-t saying to exercise and hold because .... stock implications. Then the bust happened and those having exercised and holding were left with AMT payments and bupkiss.

So yes, sometimes you gotta think and read between the lines and look out for number one.

Lousy thing for Schwab to do to their employees after telling us that WFH isn't going anywhere. Some of us made big decisions with that in mind. No way am I driving 10 hours per week to go back to an office when my team is in several locations. Ridiculous

They don't care. Simon are the boomers lied to us repeatedly about WFH. This firm continues to make bad decision after bad decision. They ended the one reason we had left to stay here
