Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Just admit when you're wrong

Why is it so hard for the senior management to admit when something was a failure? I've noticed people will rather double down on something that doesn't work rather than admit they were wrong. It's both sad and counterproductive. Imagine if regular employees functioned like that, how long would it be before we were fired?

They have scapegoats. Anybody below them. This is why the company has performance improvement program. When you reach this category. Expect to be RIF later.

Production they have a different philosophy. Lay off employees and expect everyone else to pick up the slack. This probably happens in ONT too.

By the way! Why admit when you're wrong. When all your friends run the company. They will protect you.

That reminds me of Z21, some projects just reverted back to old way and no one mentioned it, it just kinda happened.

Typical reaction when things go wrong is to wait for awhile and change back to old policy WITHOUT publicizing the fact or create one that works and publicize as new and improved.

Empty suits share three things in common. First, they are blind to the limits of their own knowledge. Second, they oversimplify the problem. Finally, they never utter the phrase “I don’t know.” Empty suits are toxic and should be avoided at all costs.

Because Honeywell has your typical, old school, top-down management style. All the direction comes from the top, so saying that something was a failure, or that the path taken was wrong, means that the boss was wrong.

And no one likes to say "the boss was wrong."
