Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

My coworker sent me here, need advice

Long story short, I had to move out of new Jersey when I was with TDA because the school system was deteriorating. I couldn't go back if I wanted to now because the cost of living is so high.

My manager basically told me last night I won't be allowed to be full time remote. Do anyone know if October is the full cutoff if we are denied? I already started looking for a job this morning and talked to a contractor service. But will they give us until end of year at least? I'm terrified because I love month to month

Omaha had a building restack earlier this year. It took roughly 3 months to move people around the 11 story building as they decommissioned 4 floors. And this was AFTER they had a plan as to where they were going to put people to be closer together.
My point is, we have 3.5 months for the Facilities to have a plan for every one to have a space, and then they have to move hardware etc. It would be a miracle for Facilities to bring those 4 floors back online, and reassign work spaces by Oct 1st. Dec 1st, maybe.
I was also in LoneTree this year. The building I was in appeared ready to go, but I did not visit the other buildings.

I highly doubt that CRE will have a plan executed by October 1st.

My advice would be to continue doing your work as you have been (i.e., don't slack or do anything crazy) but continue to do it from home and don't go into the office. If they want to be sticklers about it, they can fire you and you will be eligible for unemployment while you continue to look for a new job.

I would unfortunately not expect this company to give you to the end of the year. This is all being done because they want to shrink our overall headcount without having to do layoffs ($$$) so they either want you in the office or gone this year so they can enjoy a smaller employee salaries budget in 2024.

Yeah the way I read the email we have to be back in office by October 1.

Someone on my team basically had a meltdown yesterday and called in sick today because they just bought their first house 45 minutes away from Denver.

I asked my manager this and was told October is the month we have to be in the office. I may have to try to sell the house I just bought last year to move closer to the main office in Westlake

I'm sorry you're going through this.
