Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

workers in Denver organizing a protest

I'm not sure about numbers but apparently a few people are trying to organize a protest October 2nd during lunch

I live in Denver and think this is a good idea, but can Schwab fire us for voicing our disagreement with this new policy?

I would sign up for this if there were enough people for sure

A lunch time protest isn't going to get the job done. We need to not come in.

Schwab can fire you for any reason according to the contract you signed, outside of specific situations that have to do with protected class (e.g. firing you due to your se-ual orientation). If you organize a protest during lunch fully expect to be immediately fired and possibly arrested if they request you leave and you refuse. Not saying I wouldn't agree with doing that given recent choices, but know what you're doing before you do it.

I would read the fine print - yes your have a right to protest but if it impacts and employer you might have some accountability.

As long as it's peaceful we still live in America right?

It's funny you mentioned that a few of us in Omaha were talking about calling in sick for three days in protest. I like the protest at lunch idea better
