Working at Cisco is like gambling at a casino. You can do everything right, but you're still at the mercy of the house.
You can work hard, exceed expectations, and get raises and bonuses. But if the company decides to lay off employees, you could be one of the unlucky ones, even if you're not in the bottom 5%.
This is because the more you make, the more of a target you become. After all, the company wants to save money, and laying off high-paid employees is one way to do that.
This is especially true if your team has already been through multiple layoff rounds. At that point, there are no more contractors or crash dummy hires to lay off, so the focus shifts to full-time employees.
So, even if you do everything right, there's still a chance that you'll be laid off from Cisco. But at least the severance packages can be sweet.
