Spending 128 unpaid/unproductive hours per year commuting (more than vacation time) plus an extra $200-300 in gas, etc. for the "privilege" of sitting elbow to elbow - yes, it is sooo important to my career. Not to mention those that have to pay exorbitant parking fees, childcare, etc.

Lone Tree doesn't have a fitness center or childcare, and i don't think SF headquarters did either.
Why we don't want to RTO - you can tell how little thought Schwab put into the brand new Westlake HQ, there's not even a gym or on-site childcare center. This is basic Corporate HQ 101 stuff that they missed. Every major F500 campus I've worked at has at least a small gym.
If they want to talk about "culture" there is no better place to build camaraderie than at the corp gym waiting out rush hour traffic to clear, I met the Allianz Insurance exec's several times in their gym. Good conversation when you have IT, sales, and accounting executives all in the same workout class burning calories, high on endorphins.

They got tired of hearing everyone whine about RTO and post about how to stand up to EC. Now you have to worry about whether you will have a job around the holidays.
Good news is you probably won't need to RTO ever again!
Nope we are not that desperate
Right, now most are worried whether or not they’ll have a job. They’ll gladly come into the office if it means keeping their job.
RTO is old news. They've thrown up the layoff distraction.
