Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Diversity and Inclusion with Layoffs?

As weve all seen they are planning on laying off a lot of people. My question is will this effect Schwab's diversity and inclusion initiatives? Maybe the layoffs are a silver lining and a good thing for Schwab? Right now Schwab still doesn't feel as diverse as say Starbucks, maybe if we strategically laid off some people we could improve the balance of power across a more diverse workforce.

What happens when you get laid off is that in order to get your severance package you have to sign a document that states you will not sue. If you do not sign that document you do not get your severance

Be assured, nothing will change regarding that issue, it'll stay as it is. The layoff rounds are ussually planned carefully from a legal point of view - legal teams scrubbing the layoff list and balancing it out making sure the company doesn't get sued for any kind of discrimination.

Say what you want about hiring diversely for diversity's sake, but a lot of sh*t people hate about working for Schwab comes directly from working for very rich white older men. Its not a racist or s-xist thing, but they're so out of touch compared to other leadership orgs we've had. What do people who have made 1 million+ salaries for a decade understand about diverse clients dealing with inflation? Or how likely are they to invest in the right technologies that integrate properly so we can do your jobs efficiently? They dont have faith in remote work because they probably arent as effective as a younger group would be.
Last thing, Scottrade and TD CEOs and HR directors gave major updates themselves that we get in emails now and showed tremendous empathy. They would never have left all the questions to unnotified managers. It feels like all decisions are made by privledge people who dont have to deal with the reality of their choices.

Look at the type of people on the Board of Directors and in the EC leadership - there is your lack of diversity - clean house starting at the top

Yeah, lay-off all the white guys to make us look better on a diversity pie chart. Peak delusion.
