Questions conveniently missing from my Glint survey this quarter…
- I plan to be working at Charles Schwab two years from now
- Our leaders have painted a compelling vision of where we are going
- I have confidence in the executive leadership team (Schwab’s EC)
- At Charles Schwab we do a good job removing barriers that slow down our work
- I feel free to challenge the way things are done here
Layoffs and aspects of RTO could have been predicted given we work for a F500 company going through a massive acquisition with mounting costs, unused real estate, etc… what’s disappointing is how quickly the communication of these decisions evaporated trust, created a culture of fear, and removed any shred of empowerment from managers to effectively make decisions for their teams.
I used to enjoy working here and engaging to be part of the solution/create progress, but now it’s sitting on eggshells waiting for some out-of-touch exec to make sweeping decisions with little to no empathy, clarity, or consideration of how different orgs operate.
Schwab’s employees make decisions “through clients eyes” but the EC sure doesn’t give a sh*t about the people who run the machine. That’s been made very evident.
