The best leverage you can have in a search for employment is the fact that you have a job. Find something better. I've been with the company almost 15 years, there's life after T. I'm about to accept a position with another company doing the same job for 52% more pay, better benefits, and free flights.

Nothing is better than AT&T. That’s why you stayed so long
Absolutely agree with OP. You have much more leverage and choice if you look for opportunities when you still have a job. If you take severance and are unemployed for 3 or 4 months (very possible) you likely have to use at least some of that money to cover expenses anyway.
What if you don’t have current skills?
Literally everyone I've talked to who has left the company either voluntarily or forced has said it was a blessing in disguise. It was a shock to the system initially but once the dust settled they were so much happier.
You’ll lose all the benefits earned if you leave before rule of 75.
to the OP: are you walking away from your severance? genuinely asking because that's what I'm planning to do also. I can't fathom sticking around for another year. It's not worth the stress and toll its taking on me and my family. There's a level of ambiguity I can work with within a job but not the ambiguity of not having a job and the work involved in looking for another job.
Must be AA or SWA
Well? Where did you get hired?
Sorry. Thought you said you got fights for free.
