Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

CS&S and CD1 will cause transition to fail, CS&S is going under bigtime

CS&S is going under big time, as a people leader in CS&S I have a very bleak outlook. CD1 is a main catalyst, the reps are terribly clueless and the training they have been given is atrocious, many of the bad surveys received from both TD and Schwab clients have been after speaking to a CD1 reps, they clog up phone lines with questions they can but won’t answer. My reps HATE CD1, I can hear the tone in my reps go downhill everytime they hear CD1, we are in westlake area and everyone on my team is now remote and most have children, I doubt half of them will RTO, many have been here since USAA. They are waiting until OCT1 to get their ducks in a row. So am I.

RTO and CD1 will be a kn--e in the chest to CS&S.

Oct 1 will be a catalyst, they may not be laying off from CS&S but I would not be surprised if the most amount of attrition is from CS&S. People are using this time to get their ducks in a row. You should too. We had one guy quit on the spot in a meeting the day it was announced.

Walt and the EC have bit off more than they can chew and they have yet to find that out. Keep in mind that the reason you’re going back into the office is becuase some guy that got paid 24 MILLION last year says you should.

We may all have mixed feelings about RTO but at the end of the day reps will leave. A lot of reps will leave. The simple fact of the matter is that if someone is going to be required to come into an office, they need to be paid more. Schwab does not pay more than other companies, it’s not longer competitive and the pay no longer counter balances the benefits.

Why do they need to give a heads up - there will be no heads up when it is time to lay them off. Just a remote meeting with the skip level that suddenly appears - don't think that is much notice.

It's a death march to CD1 and most will not survive with their mental health or jobs come mid-October. I encouraged my team to start interviewing externally in exchange for a heads-up before they leave for Chase/Fidelity/etc.

The CD1 team is absolutely worthless. They can’t reset a password without transferring a call. I have absolutely no idea why they exist. Half my team will just hang up the phone if they see it’s from that company.

Return to office is more than just because one guy said so. It’s a coordinated effort between CEOs to prop up the commercial real estate market as a whole because the entire economy would plunge and it would cause the company (and others) to lose far more money than short-term employee morale.

Yes I am I the process of “owning my tomorrow”. For too long I have done what was best for the company only to me lied to and treated poorly. I’m not continuing a career at a business that always has layoffs. Several interviews next week. Oct 1 or sooner I’m gone! Be careful what you wish for EC because you might just get it

I am a client facing CS&S rep and the lack of morale from support departments (understandable of course) and disorganization of the phone queue system is the last straw for me. As you said as well the pay is not competitive I spent 30 seconds on Indeed and found the same role with a 50% raise. See Through Investor's Eyes.
