Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

IT to Strategy and APPS to OPG?

Any opinions on the rationale for tearing apart the CTC already? The email from EB that we need to get rid of IT and APPS in order to focus on the tech strategy is short sighted and insulting to the folks in those groups. Good luck with your unattended facilities without IT, digital and data infrastructure. Did we learn nothing from the ITC/ETC days?

IT org model not working well. When the vice chairman sees it, he will wonder what on gods earth is going on. All we hear is big bad chapter leaders saying their employees are happy and data is in my DNA. Nobody wants to return to the office. The good days are over for IT!

MN is the future of the company - a smiling chesire cat with a smooth look and smoother tongue. He always sound smart and clever. He can fool most of the workers and all the managers. But his results are horrific so he has been sidelined to a harmless planning and BD job.

This is just another misguided effort from senior management at rearranging the deck chairs to make it look like they know what they are doing. A better strategy would be to get rid of a few layers at the top. The first one I'd boot would be MN. He was an insulting buffoon during the transformation. Under his direction, we ended up with more VPs and less workers. It always baffles me how this smiling id--t got where he is.

MW and executive management hates IT and seems to hate the employees. He would lay off everyone if he could.

The handwriting has been on the wall for a long time - outsource IT to Microsoft.

IT to SPD means that there will be a new CIO.

IT is entirely too powerful at Chevron, most oil co’s kick IT around like they should not let b-m’s like Blosser and others run around and act like they understand anything about this business. Total joke.

MW clearly considers IT to be more efficient as a vendor service from his friends at Microsoft. From my seat, I would not trust Microsoft for anything that can not be completed entirely in the office suite. Get ready for the race to mediocracy: A perfect fit into the new Agile Chevron.

MW is terrible for IT and the employees of this company. Hes great for Wall Street. He does want to get rid of IT and have an intensely lean staff for the entire company to bump up the dividend and stock buybacks. He seems to love layoffs and cuts. A terrible perceived legacy to have once he finally does retire.

IT and engineering in the same sentence.....not sure how that can be true....is this where we are in this company...Where IT graduates believe they are engineers

IT should have stayed with CTC. How can someone imagine Technology without IT Engineering?
