Remember that year-end meeting last year, where each EC wore funny costumes on stage in SF? Before that, each EC from all the offices recapped the year, taking credit for all the accomplishments for their org.
With the exception of KC, the accomplishments happened DESPITE each member of the EC, not because of them.
From my friend at Apple:
Many executives are highly sociable, have desirable physical features, are above average at people skills...and that's it.
What makes them climb the ladder will not help a company succeed because most "executives" are just actors and not true leaders. They don't know anything other than playing the scene.
They need to read/study 'Good to Great' and become true leaders.
they spent 20+ years kissing the right people's as--s while exhibiting baseline competency levels... don't question what they do now! they worked hard to get there!!!!

I'd like to know as well...like really what are they doing day to day? What actual value do they add that others can't? Is one of the qualifiers a complete lack of awareness and empathy?
Are you sure you know who is on the EC?
