Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Be Proactive

I was part of one of the previous layoff rounds. Mine was a Monday morning with an adhoc meeting prompt from my manager.

Please note while you don't lose access until that afternoon you IMMEDIATELY lose the ability to send any emails externally. So if you have your resume or anything like that only saved on your work computer, be proactive and email it to your personal email now.

I send stuff to my personal email frequently. It has never been flagged because it's never been information that would cause a flag. As long as you aren't sending sensitive information like account numbers, balances, internal policies, etc. the DLP check will run and allow it through. They do not care about an excel spreadsheet I start at work at then send to my personal email unless it contains sensitive information.

@njw+1nQNTY8O it is. I've tried to send my own tax documents and pay stubs to my personal email. Not allowed

I don’t think sending out your own person info would be a breech of NPI even if it had your SSN on it

Former Schwabbie here that worked on the security side.

You can send attachments to your personal email. Where it gets tricky is what is in the attachment. Anything with client data is going to get blocked and your manager and their manager get a DLP notification. Anything that has a document footer of internal use only, confidential, etc will also get blocked and your manager notified. Anything that might be suspicious will get reviewed later by a real person and then possible action taken.

If you try to get sneaky and use a web browser instead of email and upload the documents somewhere, the same system scans outbound web attachments using the same criteria.

Sending your resume to yourself will not be flagged at all, I’ve done it many times while applying for internal roles. Just be careful not to send anything that had your social security number on it, that will flag for NPI.

That was the point of the post. You can't send them if you have been let go. But sending them before hand seems like a great way to get yourself on that list.

Who cares if it’s flagged immediately? You just got let go.

You can copy paste the text if needed into the body of the email.

The point being they don't care about you, be proactive and prepared.

Do not send attachments to your personal email! That will be flagged IMMEDIATELY.
