Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Office Days

Continue to read and hear about many companies/competitors moving to an office-first model. It’s been pretty quiet internally for awhile. Likely just a matter of time, but anyone hearing of upcoming changes to WorkForward?

It sounds like you're thinking about "Seinfeld" and/or "The Office." Probably from all the TV you've been watching at home instead of working.

Oh I so remember people hiding under their desks to make calls, the wafting lunch/perfume smells, roaming outside to breathe, pretending to work, spending hours in fake meetings gossiping about leadership and how bad Verizon's products, services, decisions were and all the bs/politics. We tried to push back on the highly paid consulting company that pushed us all to live in open "collaborative" spaces which really was to reduce real estate costs. Huge failure and we were all sooo greatful to then WFO and actually do work in our own space, freely collaborating with other productive people....waste of money, time, resources. Successful companies with happy employees have no problem offering WFO. Last 2 companies I worked for all employees worked from home - revenue is up, happiness up.

A lot of the WFH came about as a result of the unhealthy HR / Corp Real Estate moves to get rid of offices, and put everyone at communal picnic tables. It turned into an overcrowded sick house where many would vie for the few 'personal rooms' to escape the white never-ending white noise and crowded work environments. Instead of 'collaborative' it became corrosive. The Coup-Flu fortunately freed everyone from that unhealthy environment and no one wishes to return there, and you cannot blame them.

HV and his co---e rule and rulers have made an absolute mess of the business, the esprit de cour, customer service, and the work environment.

It does completely fall on the European socialist.

That's actually a really good idea, @aku+1nTu65SY.
The people I know that want to RTO want to do it mainly because they don't feel like they're getting decent service from the WFH co-workers they depend on. The perception is that everyone working from home is slacking off when the business needs them. Due to this, they are having difficulty doing their jobs. Tying WFH to our performance might help address that. The people who are really pushing for WFH should then be doing everything they can to keep things going in the right direction.

If everyone is doing better work at home then at the office. Explain why our company is tanking. Why the stock is down. Verizon never did this bad when employees were in the office. It doesn’t completely fall on Hans.

There’s still a small percentage of Bell Heads that have you go into the office everyday at VZ. Assembly line thinking never allows you to be innovated.

Anyone obsessed with working from the office, just so you know, office hubs are open, feel free to work from there everyday if it makes you happy

@aku+1nTu65SY Ok ‘back to office boomer’. Keep blaming your poor performance on others.

We need to RTO 100% until stock is back above $50. As long as we're above $50 we can WFH. If it drops, back to work.

I can only speak for myself, but I get more work done working from home without the distractions of the office. Plus, I have a global team, and I’m not spending two hours a day in traffic.

I can't wait to get back to the office. There's too much abuse. All I ever do anymore is leave vm's that i know won't be answered and send emails that won't be returned. On the rare occasions when someone does pick up the phone, there's always something distracting going on... kids screaming, someone else talking, tv radio blaring, machinery running, etc. And, it's always more important.
I'm trying to get things done. I can't because no one else is.
I think we're not coming back so they can make a case to let go anyone they want at anytime they want.

You can read, hear and believe whatever you want, business is business, if a company if more efficient working from office, there will be office, if same co. has a better output from same input as in the office format, then it will not matter whethrr you work from office or from mars as long as the work is done....work is work...stop the whine
