Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle Real Estate is laying off 560 employees

Oracle Real Estate is laying off 560 employees around the world. They have sold their sole to an outsourcing firm called JLL and they are reducing office amenities and quality of facility service to help meet budget cuts since no one is going to the office anyway. A friend at JLL said they are scrapping plans for a big Nashville project that was in the news, selling off all of the real estate they acquired from a medical company and getting out of leases everywhere. Rough times for yet another tech company.

Bumped for info from @osz+1nTCX0cE.

This is a huge loss! Anytime I've needed assistance from REF they have been efficient,

Disagree, REF was an outmoded team. Loozers really.

Yes, increased shareholder value. And that goes for everyone who just sold their RSUs.

No great loss. Oracle is in the tech business, not the real estate management business. So the move makes sense. And this nonsense that REF was so great is just that, nonsense. In our campus they put up more hurdles and power trips than anything else. Treated it as their personal fiefdom. JLL is just as good and way less costly to the org. Good riddance.

JLL has hired so many incompetent workers, it is extremely disappointing!

Would Sux to be Mid Mgmt right now, but anyone with any business or corporate sense whatsoever has seen this coming for a loooooong time.

LE cleaned house in 1990, it's past time to do it again.
Stock will soar if, he gets right mgmt team in there.
Even if, they have no experience in this industry wouldn't matter -- today's corrupt do not either -- taking work from employees, racketeering two others to take work he already had to file patents so, could lie to legal & those above him to get promoted. Maybe someone did that on purpose because they were heading bigger and better.

It's been interesting and entertaining to watch him build his own case against himself. Manipulation is too easy to see. His over-confident narcissism impairs his ability to see how stupid he’s been.

From saying he was setup by a senior director to conspiracy and now fantasy.
He doesn’t care what he says. He’s a loose cannon. He thinks he has rights to break the law. What he’s done has been against Oracle yet he thinks Oracle is his protection. He’s is on his own with this. LE does not forgive when someone skims money from Oracle for personal use. To KE that’s stealing from him.

It has been fun and it’s been real. Time to move on.

Do they give layed off staff notice? Any opportunity to see internal openings?
What about vesting RSU?

This is a huge loss!
Anytime I've needed assistance from REF they have been efficient, professional and quick to turn around my requests. I truly hope JLL picks up those affected.

When I was a lab manager, whenever I had a problem with power of cooling, or the place needed a good cleaning, I called REF and it was done. Whenever I had gear being unloaded onto the loading dock, who helped me get it into the lab? REF, even though it wasn't their job, they gladly helped me. Almost in real time. Now, If you need anything done, you will need to submit requests and wait your turn and if if it is not in the job description, you are SOL. Great people doing dirty jobs to help make our jobs easier. I enjoyed their company and appreciated their work. When I left, I gifted them the neon signs I had hanging in my lab. That's how much I appreciated their work

No biggie. They can just hire on with JLL and keep doing their same jobs. Unclear why everyone is so worked up about this.

I expect 560 families suddenly with out income in the United States during a time of great economic uncertainty to disagree with the statement "No great loss."

I think this sort of thinking completely lacks human compassion and is the reason we have layoffs. At least Oracle offers a severance package. But making this sort of economic upheaval for people is not a good thing ... making it the norm as it is these days leads to an unstable society that lacks human compassion.

Might as well start celebrating at funerals and laugh at people dying with cancer while you are at it. Why not start to enjoy human suffering and get some pleasure out of it? Some people do, whats wrong with laughing at children while they starve?

No great loss. REF is not exactly central to success in today's tech industry.
