Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

What's next?

Do you think Lumen Technologies will start reducing head count? I know that a company cannot cut its way to profitability? It has to grow. Where I work, we see very little if any in new sales. And a company in the red cannot engage in capital expenditures to modernize its network.

Thoughts?

Even unionized techs are leaving. Not just retiring, but leaving for greener pastures.

"No need to pay people to leave if they'll self-terminate instead"

Maybe the non-bargained for are. That doesn't work on our side of the fence, most of us are adding to our pensions. Their best option is to offer VSPP'S (Voluntary Separation Pay Packages) at around $27k max. That way they can retain some of the younger people with 10-15 years experience. If the country goes into a recession soon, none of the senior people will leave & they'll be laying off what could be their future experienced work force. There's barely any attrition over here & you won't get people to rage quit on a six figure pension.

Typical Corporation hiring outside the USA to get cheap labor! Go woke go broke! These buffoons don’t have a clue on how to be successful! Numbers don’t lie!

They've hired 500 plus people in India this year and promoted 100 or so.

Lumen has no choice but get rid of head count.
Unlike the past. This time could be a much larger reduction. 25-30% could be possible.

I do see another buyout offers coming in near future.
Only jobs I get every morning are PMP ( preventive maintenance procedures).
The legacy DMS, Dslams, and power+environmental alarms are ignored.
Only the Ethernet, Fiber, and cellular gets the urgent response.
September or October could be the period for the announcement.

This company has too much debt and no growth. That leads to bankruptcy. Management will layoff as many as it takes to make their quarterly numbers.
