Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Has anyone received Monday morning one on ones?

Very out of character to have received a scheduled one on one for Monday morning, I assume this is it for me at Dell. Has anyone else received an early Monday one on one?

HR was booted on my call too and manager, won’t say leader ever to describe them, was crickets until HR came back online. And it’s true, you will find better. There is life after Dell whether it’s somewhere else or you happen to boomerang. But with job reqs at an all time low, I don’t see Dell rehiring anyone until Q1 next year and with their focus on hiring “young” people not “old” people, best to look elsewhere. FYI I do see a lawsuit in Dell’s future based on their diversity including everyone except the oldies but goodies.

When I was laid off, HR was on the call. HR had a poor connection and got booted off the call. Manager said zero words until HR came back on the call because if liability. It’s not about you so be strong and move forward. Your manager may be helpful or not. Depends on the manager. Just remember you will come out better than you left. I’ve seen it and I believe it.

Also they will take your laptop and desktop…and any other Dell equipment. Just be aware of this, I think it was definitely news to me when I was getting laid off that I couldn’t even keep the monitor/mouse/headphones/etc. You will get about a month before they send you a box so no rush to get a new one right away, also any material created is company property, this also hit me hard being part of my first lay off, just want everyone to be as prepared as possible and hopefully lessen the blow Monday morning for those affected.

Essential you receive a one on one and you can not see that HR is added as well. They essentially then read a scripted narrative to explain why you are being let go- don’t expect to get any direct reason. They also will not have cameras on, it is cold, and you will be overcome with emotions. If you are part of the people let go this upcoming Monday, stay strong, take a week break, and when you are ready hit the ground running for a new job. It may not seem like it but the sooner you look the better. While you are used to a working schedule use it to your advantage and more importantly use the timing to your advantage, easier to get a job when you were just freshly out of one!

Can those of you that got invites share what orgs you are in?

Best of luck to everyone affected. I’ve been there. Uncertainty su-ks. Hopefully you land on your feet and wind up better off. Sometimes layoffs force you to make a move you wouldn’t otherwise make and it pays off. I hope that’s the case for everyone here. I’m still not sure of my own status.

HR is BCC’d or added at last minute. Subject will be usually 1x1 Org Update / Business Update.

Yup, got mine. It’s been a great run, forever grateful for this opportunity. I wish I could stay, I loved my job and my team. I will miss Michael, he was a great leader and even better person. I will enjoy this glass of wh----y and begin the job hunt.
