Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

People change here

Starting with myself, enduring stress for a long time has made me a lot different from the way I was when I first came here. This place makes people bitter, even if they never were, and their mental health suffers here. I'm leaving soon because I can no longer bear such a toxic atmosphere, although I wonder how long it will take me to feel some relief and finally forget about all the bad things experienced here...

You must not have worked at VZ very long if you are thinking of just leaving. Many folks worked at VZ for well over 25 years. They were were hard working, talented and very knowledgeable in the field. Then the execs from India took over and RIFd 99% of them so they could give their jobs to their countrymen and get kickbacks from the government of India and Inf0Sh1t. The RIFd longtime employees have every reason to be bitter, angry and sad. Luckily Karma is a b-tch. Watching the stock price drop from 50s to 30s, since the Infy 1Billion dollar deal in 2018, looks like karma/she has arrived.

Because people figure out that most of the "corporate" stuff is super fake. Even the Rah-Rahs wear frowns most of the time

Why would you feel bad? The company is being run to the ground and many folks are complicit. You are probably feeling the stress because you are trying to drink the BS but cannot.
Maybe look for another job?

Management is responsible for creating the culture in any work environment. Therein lies your answer. Most management, anywhere; do not have a clue.

I can relate to your feelings. The work environment and culture has become so toxic at Verizon. Sometime just one person will ruin an entire group and start to play nasty games and spread toxicity. The bad part is that they have their management's support. It drives you nuts and even if you are doing your 110% best your efforts are not apperciated. You are absolutely correct it will cause mental health issues and EVEN if you leave this job or are laid YOUR MNETAL HEALTH ISSUES will linger with you and it will take months to untangle any mental health issues/notts. Good Luck to you!!!

TRUST ME,,,IT IS A THANKLESS JOB !!
