Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

It’s just sad

To the thousands of us who have been crushing it from home, often putting in extra hours because we can and we care, leadership doesn’t care. Back in your cages. You’re only good to them if you are controlled. This is by far the most deceitful and destructive action ever taken by this company. Employee morale won’t recover. This 3 day weekend will only make it fester. Bait and switch at its lowest. Leadership should be ashamed.

Like a lot of things Schwab does anymore, they are just following the mainstream. Sounds like Wart trying to flex his old man muscle. Used to be an innovative company.

It’s going to be a depressing next 3 months to say the least. I hate this. Our new normal was working better than anything I had done in the last 10 years. Schwab must really be in a bad financial situation, because going into the office is not about collaboration or connectiveness. That’s typical corporate BS. Everyone knows we are either in meetings or getting work done for 8 hours. This isn’t a movie where we are all white boarding out innovative plans. We have to actually get stuff done. Would RTO make me quit? I don’t know. I feel stronger about leaving a weak and deceitful company that does not value employee work-life balance and will employ such a ruse to save money, from decisions us employees had nothing to do with.

It’s incredibly disappointing. While my dept has had 10 different RTO “guidelines” over the past year, seeing this announced company-wide in the manner that it was was… shocking to say the least. I don’t think anyone is surprised about some form of RTO but this very clearly was done with no input or regard for employees. Loved this company but have lost all respect.
