Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Be careful what you post on Schwab apps

someone got fired today for what they posted in a teams chat. I saw the message because I was asked to archive it and it wasn't even that bad. More frustration than anything.

Be careful what you post. I wouldn't say anything negative about anything. Best to avoid the topic altogether. They are looking for blood

But who watches the watchers watching the watchers who are watching?

Of course they pull data on company devices. Parsing the data is onerous however. Regardless, no one should be complaining about their job using company hardware, aside from being unprofessional it’s obviously dangerous behavior. Nevertheless, basically everyone that was affected positively by WFH reacted negatively to the announcement, if they fired everyone that voiced dissatisfaction or discussed it then they would be firing half the company.

From experience, you are fired when you make plainly bold declarations thinking they’ll never be read. “That’s right, I’m done with this place! I’m gonna take half the calls I used to and purposely mess up cases, what are they gonna do fire me?!” Yes, yes they will. Always be exemplary in your work, but also demand the same from everyone you work with, including key decision makers.

Ex employee here. They do pull data. Happened to me. Not because of something I wrote. Someone I was chatting with was being 'watched' and I got pulled into the mix and questioned by not only my manager, but the person who I was chatting with's manager. So if you have, or think you could have, a red check next to your name it might benefit you to mind your p's and q's and vent using an outside source. Just sayin'.

I don’t think anyone here doubts that they CAN do it, more so doubting they would do it. At least for chats that are clearly just venting/frustration.

If they start booting people for things like that and/or tracking down redditors who are just venting frustration and not sharing internal specifics, that could turn into a PR nightmare if some of those folks shared their experience.

nobody questions that they can read everything. We just don't believe they are firing people for criticizing this terrible decision.

If they fired everyone who said it was d-mb, they'd be left with 6 people.

For everyone that doubts it: you are wrong.

They can access anything on company server (teams, email, etc.) and it’s usually manager or manager’s manager, driven. If someone asks, they can start scrubbing through everything you’ve ever typed.

There are also key words that will alert “leadership” and allow them to read your messages.

I find that very hard to believe. There would have been literally hundreds of thousands of messages on this topic in the last day

There's magically going to be no time left for live Q&A at the next town hall.

FIRE ME PLEASE!!! lol i dont buy this because i sent multiple messages immediately after saying they were out of touch, wrong, and that we had been promised otherwise. if you get fire over this, you probably are on a smaller team that pays you less than you could earn at a local mcdonalds (most pay 15 or more a hour in my current city) fu-k these boomer pieces of sh-t

Oh please. They drop a bo-b on everyone and expect that we just sit quietly and eat sh-t? Everyone, and I mean everyone, has been talking about this negatively. You blind sighted your own people leaders who would’ve handled this 10000000x better if you had just clued them in. What did they expect to happen?

Oddly enough my manager told us in our stand-up today not to say anything on teams or email and then she started a group text chat on our personal phones lol

I very much doubt that.... This sounds like a desperate attempt to keep people quiet.
