Job Grade Increase affect taking new role internally

Does “accepting” a grade increase during the year end performance increases affect the ability to take a new role? I was told I might not be able to move roles for a year.

It used to be the case. Not anymore. Like someone else already said: So long as you've been in your current role for at least 1 year you are eligible to take on a new role.

I would argue that a promotion is a new role & would reset the clock requiring you to remain in the new position for a yr before moving to a new team.

Yes. A lot of openings are of grade 10. If you’re gonna be promoted to grade 11, it may affect internal switching chances.

No. So long as you've been in your current role for at least 1 year you are eligible to take on a new role. Merit increases and promos do not reset the clock.
