Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

FAQ

In the original email, it said that real estate exceptions would be granted. Does everyone think this is BS? If not, why all the outrage over having just moved, just bought a house, etc.

I got a medical exemption granted and it’s a permanent one too. I have a severe spinal
Issue that doesn’t allow me to drive.

If you can make it to a regional office in less than an hour and a half, your exception request is likely to get denied. At least that's what I've been told.

Vote with your feet. Suck it up until you can find a better company to work for.

The amount of exceptions allowed is so low it will probably barely cover those people who moved and no one else. Plus, if you have more than 18% of you remployees who moved you don't have enough exceptions to go around for them.

Approval is not guaranteed even if you moved and you have to reapply every 6 months. We were told they could decide to cancel the exception at any time. The final approval comes from the EC and not a direct people leader who actually knows you. From what I’ve read in other posts the final decision will be based on your last performance review. Although I’m not sure anyone really knows how they will decide but I guess we will all find out next month.

If it’s up to my dept/MD to approve the exception request, I already know mine and anyone else’s in my dept’s will get denied since my MD has been pro-RTO all along. So I’m not counting on an exception.

Yeah and for those of us who want to comply but have just moved, you have no transition plan or phasing in at all. Show up October 1st or be terminated. Like what??? Who came up with this plan?

Gotta love living life in constant worry your approved exception isn’t re-approved the next time.
