I am the one who knows Legal Dept firings. My posts here have typos. (Sorry). Approximately 20 AVPs were fired in Legal last Tuesday, including me.
“ What does “20 AVPs on legal list” mean? That 20 AVPs are going to get let go? Have been let go? Are these all AVPs in the legal department or company wide? Please clarify”
20 4th level lawyers were fired Tuesday in the Legal Department. They are technically AVPs.
Sounds like this is the AT&T way

FMP and RTO should not be confused, distinct events. I was told to expect an email today with a link to distribute RTO letters to my group, using the YTR distribution system. The letters coming out now are informational, no approvals only here is your work location, # of days expected in office, date... Next letter, ~by end of July, for folks required to move.
Form letters out to all orgs about surplus yesterday.. no heads up like we usually get that will be impacted... no one is safe could be here today gone tomorrow.
Legal list about 20 AVPs on Tuesday. I can confirm it.
Morale is low, no motivation to do. anything. Productivity is low and declining fast. RTO will backfire.
Legg has 400+ employees in San Ramon. None of them will be there when the dust settles. He pulled SR off the hub list for who knows what reason. WTH is going on?
My understanding is legal lost 20 AVP’s, can someone confirm?
On Tuesday AT&T Legal got about a 15% reduction: not all necessarily outside of hubs. Brutal.
Also Legg's org. Got a surplus notice today. Several coworkers got them too, including people in hubs! As a humble person, I can't speak for myself, but some of the people that got surpluses today are likely the best professionals that I've ever met. Some people who are thought were 100% safe. It was a big shock to everyone, and nothing made any sense, but isn't it the norm at AT&T these days?
BTW, no RTO letters, just a straight surplus, but we were told that they're now expect next week.
I’m under J.Legg org … some people were given surplus in ATS, no idea how many. A few on my team were hit, outside the hub areas.
We were supposed to be notified of our RTO locations by today (it was in writing from the organization ‘by the 22nd’ ) but… crickets.
Now we were told by managers -possibly tomorrow, probably not though. What a disastrous , unnecessary, unprofessional, and reckless roll out of an ever changing “policy” brought on by top level leadership frantically swinging the axe in desperation to try and keep their jobs (which they really shouldn’t imo)
We’ve been told we’re getting our letter on the 30th. No other info given. Two Directors were surplussed today. Dedicated. Worked long hours. Endless fire drills. Escalations. Extra Credit projects. It’s horrible
