Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

You should have known this was coming

Did you honestly think you'd get to work from home forever? Honestly? If that's true, then you are incredibly naive. It was always just a matter of time before we were asked to go back. Why would any company let its buildings sit empty and its managers unable to directly supervise employees if it can avoid it? It's certainly not in its best interest.

"You losers really expected to get to work at home without commuting?" Uh yeah, I did. Which is what I'm doing now, and have been since before I started working at Schwab. I will be in the future too at a competitor. If you feel like you want to waste your time in traffic because you like the taste of your manager's foot, by all means lick away. 100% chance you are the guy in your team that gets mad when you find out everyone else makes more than you because they know how to negotiate lmao

Waaaaaah. Hahahahahah I agree with last poster. So many project managers, now you suckas have to drive in to have your make a plan meetings. Schwab can cut down 1/3 of the work force and probably run more efficiently

OP-Did you honestly think this RTO was just about not working from home? Honestly? If that's true, then you are incredibly naive.

Plenty of threads here that can help you get educated. Forced attrition, real estate, loss of trust, …

Then again, when you say “ managers unable to directly supervise employees ” after 3 years “unsupervised” employees kept the company running at its best, then you are incredibly naive.

100% with the comment here. The planning couldn’t have been worse. Hopefully our company’s strategic initiatives are planned more thoughtfully than this otherwise…

It’s about HOW it was dropped on our heads. RTO inevitable? Sure. But planning, transparency and time would’ve been appreciated. Then there’s the whole lying part…
