Thread regarding Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. layoffs

Layoffs every 3-4 months

We've had layoffs in November, February, and now in June. Is this our new normal? Can we now genuinely expect cuts every three to four months? How can we work in such an environment and remain productive (and sane)? At least it used to be that layoffs were had once a year. What we have now is inhumane.

According to state-level filings for California, another round will take effect nearer the end of July. Not all states require an employer to file advance notice, but CA and NY are among the many.

Consider applying for a new internal job. Job postings/reqs are insanely scrutinized right now. If one is posted you can consider yourself safe for a decent amount of time. Hopefully enough time for business conditions to turn around.

I for one can’t remain sane with this. That’s why I’ve been trying to find a new gig for the past month.
