Layoff-RTO Related Question

I’m a manager still waiting to find out if I’m being relocated, if my spouse & I get divorced can anyone tell me how long they can stay on my health insurance? Serious question so please be kind. Just trying to determine if they immediately drop off when divorce is final or if they can stay on my plan for remainder of calendar year?

They stay on just for the calendar month. If your divorce is final July 2nd on Aug first it ended. They can do COBRA but would be cheaper on the market place.

You have to report the event; but you are kind to consider them even with the termination of your marriage.

You have to report the life changing event. Remember the company pays a premium for dependent care. Former spouse care is not on the approved dependent list. Spousal support aka alimony is no longer a thing unless you agree or in certain states. I’d be more concerned about your pension. Great timing to loose your Job because that would only help you.

Spouses's are done with health benefits as soon as the physical month is over.
