You know it’s over when a recent Whitacre Award recipient gets surplussed.

I LAUGH AT PEOPLE BUSTING IT WORKING HARD WITH NO SOCIAL SKILLS OR RAPPORT WITH THEIR BOSS!!! THEYRE ALWAYS THE FIRST TO GO AND CONFUSED WHY LMAO

It's astounding that there are still some people so utterly stupid as to think that only slackers and sub-par employees get laid off by T.

Need proof? Just look at some of the comments here!

I mean, if it were true that T only eliminated the lowest performers, none of those commenters would be here offering defense, as they are clearly substandard in their ability to observe, evaluate, or apply even the slightest level of critical thinking.

That's what you get trying to show off and upstage your boss. Better off staying low key and being friends with your boss and than working hard and embarassing him. TRUTH COLD HARD FACTS HOW THE WORLD WORKS

Still also amusing that our leadership said that team awards are still actively being given this year. And the next team award, for picking up the slack when we surplussed your teammate is....

Awards have never been an expectation of job security.
For this award specifically, it’s usually a group of people that leaned in to help in a disaster, things that were expectations of their jobs anyway.

Yeah, another proof that it does not make sense to make any effort when you are here.

So I’m your brain, receiving that award guarantees your job for how long? 5 years? Forever?

Doing a commendable job ONCE is not a reason to be employed forever.

If it was, everyone would just stay home and do nothing after getting a SEA, Whitacre, etc.
