Minimum Thresholds?

PTO counts as in office days for RTO but "minimum thresholds apply", what does that even mean?

The reason none of this is transparent is because explicitly spelling out which boxes we need to check would effectively be an admission that RTO is purely a box-checking exercise and has no innate value for half the employees at the bank.

Manager in CCAR, VK said that PTO does NOT count for in office. Hmm. Wonder what's up with that?

It means if you are not a favorite they will use it to make your life h***. If you are a fave, you get a free pass. Like everything else here.

It’s 4 hours PTO. Technically you’re supposed to take PTO only in increments of 4-8 hours anyway but I guess workday will let people take less and the RTO metrics they had were counting any PTO at all as an in office day. Our group has been told the RTO tracking has been updated to require at least 4 hours PTO to count as in-office and workday will soon be updated so you can only take increments of 4-8 hours, which was already the rule.

I would guess 4 hours too but since it's never written how are we to know? And SO very typical of WF to put out an email saying there is now a "minimum threshold" for number of hours of PTO to be used to count as in-office and then NOT state what that minimum is. The lack of transparency around this subject especially is like nothing I've ever seen before.

@1ngo+1nlNOPJ8 Here again. All I can do is urge you to test all of these scenarios yourself to find out the truth as it applies to your specific situation. The possibility to do anything exists, the plausibility of it being executed it a whole other story. The worst it will cost you is a fraction of the ROI you’ll get on knowing the truth. And if the rules change or they decide to clearly document them then you’ll get a warning if you are out of alignment.

I garauntee “they” can’t prove definitively your attendance depending on your environment. Badge swipes, if I badge in then forgot something in the car and badge out do I only get counted for the time in building? Maybe I go to an outside location or a meeting. Maybe I work outside. F it.

Earlier this year, I went in Monday and Tuesday for 6+ hours. I went in on Wednesday but worked only about 5.5 hours and had to leave for an emergency. I worked Thursday and Friday from home. I got a call from my manager a few weeks later saying the tracking system showed I was out of compliance and only went into the office twice that week.

So they definitely have the ability to monitor hours, if they choose to.

Manager here, tracking both hourly and salaried workers.

You need to use 4 hrs of PTO for either hourly or salaried workers for it to count as a day in office.

They are not tracking hours in-office for salaried workers …yet.

Not snarky : Have any of you that are asking “does X count” or saying “only Y counts” performed any testing yourselves?

I have heard all the claims, stories, horror stories and wives tales. So over the course of two weeks I personally tested every iteration of RTO I could think of to determine what counts as what for my situation. My testing does not align with anything in this thread except the statement that HR doesn’t know the actual rules.

if you're exempt they can legally only deduct PTO in 4 hour increments so it's either 4 hrs, 8 hrs, or 0

It means you have to use 4 hours of PTO in order for it to count as an in-office day.

I have been on with HR and asked that very question … how many hours. They didn’t even know. So we told our team to use their good judgment, key for us is going in the 3 days a week. We have two that haven’t been and they are about to be “inconsistently meets,” so it is a performance issue.

I thought it had to be 6 hours. I don’t think my 5 hour days counted. I’m doing at least 6 if I go in for the day. Useless going in if you don’t get any credit. It would be nice to know for sure.

I RTO’d in March 2022. Have spent about 4 hours a day, 3 days a week, in office and it’s never been a problem. I have seen the reporting, for us it’s badge swipes, although they do have the ability of seeing IP. We’re not doing that, however, just badge swipes. A lot of people in my area leave at lunch.

Long enough to tempt you to spend your money there. I.e. all day parking, coffee and/or lunch. Once you check those boxes you’re free to roam out. They know what they’re doing.

In order for it to count as an in office day you have to enter a minimum of 4 hours of PTO in Workday.

It has to at least be 4 hours of PTO. Your can’t enter 1 hour and it count as an in office day.
