Do you like working there? Do you work with that department. What would be your advice for a new joiner?

It really depends on your team. I have been here 10+ years and A LOT has changed since then. The one constant of STS is change. Don't expect to have the same manager for more than 6 months and don't count on doing what your core skill is since that will change too. We have a lot of developers that are doing scrum master work to fill holes.
Former STS employee here. I was with Schwab for more than 5 years.
It's honestly no different than any other IT org at any large financial services company. There are good people mixed in with the mediocre and bad ones. There are broken processes everywhere, but no one has the interest or political capital to fix them. A lot of times it is more about who you know versus what you know to make any real measurable change.
I would boil it down to this - what is most important is the relationship with your direct manager and being able work well with your colleagues. If either of those is wrong, you'll be miserable.
