Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Good bye sabbaticals

I hear they are going to be getting rid sabbaticals so if you have it don’t sit on it until they take it away right from under you!

The comment 'you will still accrue until the next one', doesn't quite strike me as fair.... You will have some employees then accruing '1 more year', and others '4 more years'. Perhaps there is an adjustment to PTO time accrual that starts when you are no longer accruing sabbatical time.
For the worry warts, it's not likely to be a situation where our accrued sabbatical time gets taken away, that would be a breach of something... A simple solution would be to pay for accrued time, or transfer that accrued sabbatical time to PTO time, with a window of 2-3 years of a higher PTO time cap.

If you are eligible for a sabbatical, schedule a date and get it fully approved. You can always move your sabbatical out up to three years. Meaning, if you’ve met the 5 years, schedule it out 6-12 months, get it fully approved. If you’re not ready to take it, push it out.

A fully approved sabbatical gives you an additional month of pay in the event you are impacted in a layoff

Too many TD people will hit 5 years in 2024. They're going to get rid of them. IMO.

Any chance they may really do this and possibly add vacation time? Just a thought.

It is true. You will get your next one but anyone who has not accrued time towards new sabbatical effective Jan 1 (exact date still being worked out) won’t get a 2nd. So basically goes away in 5 years and for anyone hired next year.

Everyone called RTO a lie on here when rumors started months ago. I believe it and it’s not with the risk of waiting to find out
