Can Ford Credit employees join the UAW? If so, how?

It’s difficult to join a union as a salaried employee. Some years ago I worked for a large insurance company that was doing to their employees what Ford is doing now. The union came in and had after hours meetings and salary employees got to vote yes or no for joining the union. An overwhelming majority voted yes and that was the last we heard. There were no more meetings and we never had an opportunity to join the union. I asked a relative who was a labor relations manager with the UAW if they had heard anything and they said they heard the insurance company paid the union a nice sum to disappear.
