Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Managers are forced to monitor if employees go into office

Managers are forced to monitor if employees go into office. If they do not they will be reprimanded. If you do not go into office, your end of year review and bonus will suffer even if you are an outstanding employee.

Then get rid of people after short term disability often for some bogus reason.

They have completely gutted multiple areas and laid off so many. People are afraid to speak up to management or make positive change.

Every week there is a new outrageous demand for some new process. It changes with the org change. We are not getting any work done just spinning and waiting for the next organizational change.

Wachovia is still very prevalent at wells in their older leadership.

Charlie turned Wells Fargo into a horror movie. Everyone is depressed and afraid to speak up.

Our stock is plummeting and our retirement accounts are suffering

There is not 5 rated review at the end of the year. If you are not liked by all of the managers in your group, you will get a meets and 2.5 percent increase.

They changed the bonus structure but our bonuses remained the same.

We feel hated by this company.

We have mandatory learning that wells didn’t pay for at first. There are no refunds for certifications. Now they have a college so that is the only good thing that came from the new leadership.

None of the people Charlie brought on made things better. EVERYTHING got worse when he arrived. Before Charlie people were happy, now everyone is sad. I dread going into office

Simply adjust your work output / f**ks given to match the time, money, vehicle wear and tear, and lost sleep RTO is inflicting. Their priority is warm bodies in a building, so that is what they get. Customer issue at end of day? Sorry, have to get on the road, it will have to wait until sometime tomorrow - after the long drive back into the office, coffee, chat, bathroom break, and generally wasting time.

Finally someone confirmed what I posted !!!!

The sky IS falling like the previous poster said. I have no reason to put false information out there. I want all of us to be aware and do great!

Manager of managers here.

Yes, I get access to reporting and I am expected to monitor... and then pursue performance management escalation as appropriate.

And if I don't do that, then i'll get "performance managed"

It's real folks. PIPs, warnings, midyear reviews, year end reviews, bonuses.

@1ybd+1nzddvqy You are using dated systems at one of the largest banks in America. You have dated processes that are still manual.

“Just fix it already” is a joke because no one is trying to fix anything so yea, the fingers are pointed .

What group are you in because my group claims it’s “forced”. In my opinion our head person in charge is mean so that’s probably their doing.

I have a buddies in Risk and compliance . Their managers review their RTO stats with them too.

I’m personally aware of a number of PiPs that have gone out. This is to those zero or 1 day a week average. If you are 2.5 or better nobody seems to be saying much. I look at org charts and see how many folks are “remote” I can’t believe how many busted up sick people there are in this company.

Managers are not forced to monitor RTO compliance. Do we check, yes, but we're not forced to check. He-l, I haven't checked in a few weeks, but I have a great team, so.

Imagine having spent years in university, finally getting an MBA, getting a job as a manager at Wells Fargo and one of your main job requirements is making sure enough of your directs plop their bu-ts in the office to justify the "firm" holding underperforming CRE loans.

I'm not sure what it's going to take for people to "get" that the sky IS falling. A full 1/3 of the company has been outsourced and it's speeding up. 500-1000 of us a month will be fired until there's hardly anything left. But don't worry guys, everything is gonna be ok! Yeah, if getting S canned from your job is your definition of "ok" things are just peachy.

I hate RTO as well, but at the end of the day the company can do what they want and if you want to keep your job you have to go along. I was remote for nine years, then in March ‘22 they forced us back in 3 days a week. It su-ks, but I have to pay the bills and the economy will get worse.

Just. Fix. It.

it's not always the office that's terrible or unfathomable. it's largely the sh---y coworkers around you, and they know who they are.

Going to a building isn't my job. It's no where in my job description , deliverables, or official duties. The fact I did my job remote for 10 years suggests driving to a building where there's zero people in my group is completely irrelevant. FRTO and FU.

@cfp+1nzddvqy All RTO sky is falling Bs posting by you. Is this really all need to you are are you just blowharding for some supposed journalism fodder? Seriously! Absolutely NONE of what you posted is new or “insider” information. If you just found this out your friendly manager has the wool pulled over your eyes. This has been published Enterprise wide since before the first of the year. You’re only 7 months late at minimum.

I didn’t post to whine. It’s a warning for people who don’t go into office but also how ridiculous the policy is. My end of year and bonus will not be affected by this policy at all. I know how to play the game.

Managers are supposed to manage their team? Get out. How ridiculous that Wells expects managers to make sure their team is doing their job.

We have been back into the office for months and I don’t understand why so many are still posting on this topic. I go into the office 3x a week as required, how complicated is this to understand. If you don’t go to the office and you don’t get a high pay increase and low bonus you brought it to yourself. Grow up and stop the whining…

@vta+1nzddvqy This was not a sky is falling post because I don’t believe the sky is falling. I’m a realist.

This was bumped from what I posted in the journalist thread.

I was told by my manager that if we do not go into office there is a report they run on all employees for badge swipes. If we do not go into office the manager has to give a verbal warning first and follow the protocol for escalation to HR.

If the manager does not follow through and allow people to bypass going into office they receive the verbal warning and their manager will follow the protocol for escalation to HR.

I too have been with wells for years. My manager and I are very close and they disclosed to me what would happen if I did not go into office. My manager also told me that it WILL hurt your bonus and your end of year review. They WILL factor it in this year!

If you do not go into office they will keep track of it. They have reports! It is a part of your performance review.

The managers are being strong armed. It’s you or them . Now put a pin on this post and wait until the end of the year review. Your bonus will suffer if you do not go into office. Thanks

The problem is Executives have initially sold the narrative that India is major cost savings for the bank. Re-work from
India is very real. India being “creative” with their production or own internal quality/SLR is very real. Many of the things posted are things I have experienced first hand or have heard from trusted colleagues who have experienced the same. Processes are whittled down to separate the steps just to give India work that truly doesn’t end in reduced production because things are so disjointed. These things over time do not equate to cost savings. This can and does impact the customer for some processes because each piece is farmed out to different area. And once a process gives work to them it is very hard to bring it back. It happens but not often. The pressure to keep it there is very real. After all, the US already displaced some of their own workers at this point. And NO manager is going to refuse at this point. Not for long, anyway. We all know that refusal or true challenge in this company is NOT wanted.

I’m a long time employee

Are things as bad as OP’s woe is me post? No not at all

Are they the best they have ever been? No not at all

But the sky is not falling as many of these posts claim. If they were people would be quitting left right and center and that certainly hasn’t been true in my area

But yes India is area that seems to be growing the most in terms of hires
