Thread regarding 3M layoffs

LinkedIn Propaganda

Is 3M paying people to post 3M propaganda articles on LinkedIn? It seems that various people I am connected with are sharing all sorts of positive 3M content on their page everyday. Based on the text shared, it seems scripted and not written by the actual person. Thoughts?

The Corporate Scientist is still out there on LinkedIn daily with her smiley gleaming face proclaiming everything is hunky-dory in 3Mland.

I have seen the same boiler plate updates posted by dozens of 3Mers on LinkedIn. Trying to create positive buzz around the company (...for a change?)

I assume at least some of those posting on LinkedIn are doing so because they (foolishly) believe it will somehow save them when the guillotine blade comes for their group. I find it unlikely that 3M HR is using the number of positive LinkedIn posts in the past X months as a final tie breaker for who will stay and who will go. It's funny - even some who end up leaving for other positions seem to copy/paste the boiler plate positive updates, right up until they put in their notice. They must have been posting those stories about how great their current employer is when they were already looking for another...

I defriend those people. I can't stand the la-la-land, best employer of the millennium, JS photo shoots. I don't want to be associated with those that repeat it. They do their best to cover the truth with propaganda, absolutely disgusting.

For many roles it's a required activity and 3M makes you connect your work email to monitor of you are posting. This becomes part of your workday goals and end of year review. Many sales positions where they can't directly atribute dollars have this requirement, like program managers. LinkedIn has become a big 3M ad.

Enough with the titanic analogies already. We are experiencing a rebirth. It’s beautiful. Soon there will be mini potties and papadums all over the place.

I’ve noticed the same thing - people that have NEVER posted to LinkedIn are now rabid posters promoting the company BS.

Yep, totally 3M written propaganda.

If you are senior enough management you even get Everyday Wins(tm) points for posting and getting a response.

You can repost approved content via 3M amplify to your own social media accounts. This will be the scripted content you'll be referring to.

The Titanic band is one of the most mysterious and legendary tales that come from the ill-fated ocean liner. Wallace Hartley led the titanic’s eight-member band, and upon panic of the passengers during Titanic’s sinking, assembled in the first-class lounge to play in an effort to keep everyone calm. As the ship continued to plunge, the band moved to the forward half of the boat deck and continued playing even when their doom became apparent.

While our company sinks, some will sing praises of the company to keep spirits up. Leaders are encouraged to post. There is a steady stream of content that is provided to those that are interested. Some of the content is factual and some is propaganda. May the band play on.
