UPS CEO says drivers will average $170,000 in pay and benefits at end of 5-year deal

KEY POINTS
UPS and the Teamsters Union reached a tentative labor deal with pay raises and other improvements late last month.

The agreement averted a strike that was approaching if a deal wasn’t reached.

The roughly 340,000 workers represented are in the middle of a vote on the deal.

@1fxw+1o2L9eyr - "I've worked for unions before, no thanks."

Why not? What are your reasons?

I ask because I know people who are currently in unions (mostly manufacturing) and they love their union. So why didn't you?

@1smc+1o2L9eyr ... Yeah... so... "privilege" and "union" do not go together. In fact, it's quite the opposite. I hate to break this to you on such a public a forum but I'm 99.9% certain you are projecting my dude.

The Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee of the DSA Labor Council is a good starting place if you are looking for organizing resources.

Change will NOT come from your leadership above.

Change only comes when workers unite! Your leaders are afraid of workers united in solidarity!

Actually I only saw the movie Hoffa starring Danny DeVito and the guy that played the psycho in The Shinning. I am ready to lead and start the union.

You are a fool if you are against unions, people have been very successfully propagandized to work against their own interests and serve capital, and no unions arent "communism" I doubt many of you have read a book cover to cover since you were in high school. This is what your masters want, calling the very thing that gave you weekends, living wages and healthcare "socialist" you dont have a clue what any of these words mean I feel intense embarrassment for you
