Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The Big Show and Layoffs

Posted in a previous thread;

“Trolls! As previously stated, occupational has been reduced continually for years. Union contracts have already been extended in other parts of the company, will be the same going forward for the SE and other CWA districts. Nothing to see here!

The Big Show is at the management level. The company is spreading the peanut butter over the multiple layers of the higher salaried staff and managers. I remember over 25+ yrs ago. the newspapers, tv news and financial reporters on Wall Street constantly reporting on how the Bells had way too many layers of managers for every occupational employee. The company had overflowing cash revenues to support it then, not now. Not much has changed since then, with the exception of there being an even bigger ratio now of Managers vs Union (occupational) employees due to attrition and layoffs over the years.

Managers are just now beginning to experience what occupational has gone through for years, time to cut the fat and there is plenty of it. The days of useless meetings, spreadsheets, power points and projects for job justification are over, only essential support and revenue generators will remain employed. If you were or are virtual, get ready for a layoff or report to your new contractual job soon. It’s what the company has to do to remain solvent. Doesn’t matter how AT&T got here (poor leadership), what matters is survival.

Good luck and hope you have a soft landing!”

This Big Show unfortunately for managers, will be going on for next couple of years, unlike the circus that moves on after a performance. Thank you Stankey, BOD and Black Rock.

The company is just too cheap for real training these days. They think Online 2D training is comparable to leader-led but instead it is like being with Alice in the wonderland, go down that rabbit hole and it will lead you to some strange places but not what is needed. It only works for the most simplistic jobs or tasks. Most of it is from the 30,000’ level, like you stated. The videos are usually short with little details. They are always referring to another resource including your manager, most of them these days don’t have a clue about the your position.

4D+ Leader-led training and shadowing an experienced/competent coworker is the formula for success. Then you are able to ask specific questions, get the correct answer and learn things not not in the document or online training videos. Q&A is the game changer for when new scenarios come up or anything else.

Let’s see how many sycophants on the friends & family employment plan RTO or involved in any true layoffs. HR and upper management usually just rearranges, creates a new title and change their reporting manager, then say it was a head count reduction for their previous title and manager. It’s why you see in webphone, Directors and the 4 levels of VP’s having people reporting to them but those people don’t have any direct reports themselves. Ever wonder what they do?

These friends & family members are your sycophant staff, power point, spreadsheet and useless redundant meeting lackeys, etc..They also come up with meaningless projects, like monitoring gps reports, creating more dashboard metrics, changing employee expectations or adding and making unnecessary changes to different practices, it’s done to justify their jobs. Layers of red-tape that are a drag on the company and an annoyance or irritant for most employees. Let’s see if Stankey will spread the peanut butter where it matters.

Sure they have training, it’s on PLE, LOD or APEX somewhere, watch the 30,000’ high over views, in between trying to do your job and make dashboard metrics. I love it when they tell us training is available online and we should take advantage of it. Like we have all day to sit around trying to find and watch poorly made videos that leaves out any specifics. The videos or training course always refers you to another link, the manufacturer or another document, those are usually even further off topic. What a joke!

My landing is as soft as Dolly’s twin peaks. Severance, Pension, 401k and ready to go. This oldie is outta here, I’m firing you Stankster. Could have worked longer but have had enough of the toxic micromanagement, failed leadership and woke BS. Got mine but hate it for you young folks, move on before it’s too late!

My experience won’t be replaced, they don’t train anymore but I know they will survive, I’m just a cog in a big wheel. Adieu and Adios compadres!

They need to get the peanut butter up in some of those hidden cracks. Nepotism everywhere at the top.

Good analysis, Stankey said, RTO = Retire The Oldies! Hubba, Hubba, three ducks in a Tubba.
