An employment lawyer will tell you if you have a case. Every situation is different and State laws are different. But, keep in mind that Verizon doesn't want ANY "bad press" to leak out. For example, if a Verizon, American, female STEM worker is RIFd by their mostly male-Indian management and replaced with a male from India. Verizon doesn't want that to go to court because chances are it will get in the news.
If you analyze your departments org chart, what % of SG5 are Indian. Same for SG6, SG7, etc. If you are female, also look at what percentage are male.
If you are over 40 and RIFd, you'll get a report of the other employees RIFd in your department (no names), their title, their age and who they work for (name). From this, you can figure out who they are (name, gender and race). If 90% of the department is Indian but 100% of the employees RIFd are non-Indian (which will be the case), that looks bad for Verizon.
Do not go to HR or Ethics. They are not on your side. Verizon's "no retaliation" policy is BS as well.
