Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

DO NOT GO TO HCLTECH

You think Verizon picked a good company to force you to? Take a look at how Infosys treats the employees that went to them. They are a bunch of racist, misogynistic a-holes. HCLTech will be no better.

Walk away if you can as you do not want to go through what's about to happen.

I have spoken to several ex-VZ folks that went to Infosys. They are all doing well in other client projects that Infosys have or still in VZ account with same salary. It appears VZ-Infy movement is job guarantee ...it's been 3+years now

As someone who went through the Infosys debacle 5 years ago, I feel for you all. I was lucky in that I was able to get out with a nice package (due to the concurrent VSP) and was retirement eligible. However that being said the Vz folks that went to Infosys were only guaranteed two years of employment, but all of the ones I worked with are still doing Vz work 5 years later and still employed by Infosys. Never heard any of them complain about anything either. Mileage may vary by area though.

So where's the fund to pay these lawyers to fight them? Joe the plumber here can't afford this fight alone, I'm afraid.

At-will doesn’t mean ann employer is allowed to break federal employment law. The truth (discrimination) gets revealed when your attorney deposes the manager for 8 hours and reveals inconsistencies.

At-will: literally 49 states except Montana. This doesn’t mean what most people think it does, even California and New York are at-will.

Right-to-work: states with no prevailing wage laws, no requirement of union membership to join a company

Closed plant state: company in non-RTW states where you get to skate by without paying union dues. If your company doesn’t have a union, prevailing wage laws require you to pay employees as much as union employers (no scabs, no importing workers from other states)

This is what would be called training your replacement! Those employees in transition are ineligible to apply or be considered l for other positions in VZ.

An employment lawyer will tell you if you have a case. Every situation is different and State laws are different. But, keep in mind that Verizon doesn't want ANY "bad press" to leak out. For example, if a Verizon, American, female STEM worker is RIFd by their mostly male-Indian management and replaced with a male from India. Verizon doesn't want that to go to court because chances are it will get in the news.

If you analyze your departments org chart, what % of SG5 are Indian. Same for SG6, SG7, etc. If you are female, also look at what percentage are male.

If you are over 40 and RIFd, you'll get a report of the other employees RIFd in your department (no names), their title, their age and who they work for (name). From this, you can figure out who they are (name, gender and race). If 90% of the department is Indian but 100% of the employees RIFd are non-Indian (which will be the case), that looks bad for Verizon.

Do not go to HR or Ethics. They are not on your side. Verizon's "no retaliation" policy is BS as well.

Don't take this as snark, it's not. Guide me through the thought process here about the employment lawyer, especially for those in at-will states. We have zilch in the form of employment protection.

Indians are c0cky. They believe they are above US laws. They are not. Start documenting everything. Get an employment lawyer ASAP. He/she will guide you as to what docs you need to have a good case. Also download employee directory (top down). Numbers don’t lie.

That for sure will be interesting. No more direct necktie in the same company that the account manager can escalate to when there are service issues. This is going to be like calling out a ticket and escalating to a 3rd party telco. VZ employees just became contractors is what happened.

this eventually happening was no mystery, just a matter of time. the customers will find out that screaming the loudest won't be enough.

Too bad they all can't quit at the same time. I would love to see Verizon implode all at the same time

Tami got Peter Principled right out of the house just in time. She was incompetent. Bickel was BS

You will be training your replacement in your new role, who will live in India and be paid 80% less.

The choice is jobless or have a job for another year. The Infosys deal you had the option of a payout. Not really an equal choice.
