Buckle up. No more cuts until after September client integration. Unfortunately, final cut numbers are due to EC members next week and final names due the week after. Directors In groups with heavy impacts and aren’t part of layoffs themselves will be privately told by September 12th to clear their calendar to support “cost cutting exercises”. 30 minute sessions back to back for a week.

When applying for a sabbatical, I read that the request requires two levels of approval which I assume are ones immediate PL and MD. Will applying for a sabbatical at this point in the process increase the chances of the sabbatical being declined and the applicant ending up on the "list"?

Sounds pretty accurate. Same time as 2019. Allows off payroll for most by mid November and for those with an approved sabbatical, by mid December. If you’re eligible for a sabbatical, submit it and make sure to get it approved ASAP, otherwise you lose it. DO NOT download or send anything via email to your home email address. Doing so could cost you your severance. If you do this and you are asked about it, DO NOT lie! Admit that you did send personal things you wanted to keep but nothing sensitive to Schwab. Lying will definitely cost you your severance.
Layoffs of 2002 were right at end of oct.. given the 60 notice to take you up to 12/31
I’m hearing that a lot of the cuts that have happened recently have been due to performance and other issues around personality attitude etc.
Reminder to ICs to check their closest Director's teams availability that week. Good luck all.
I was impacted by another financial services firm (commercial bank) downsizing several years ago, I got the scripted layoff call by a one level-up and HR rep on a Tuesday morning in mid September. Looking back at the severance I got and the better opportunity I ended up accepting, wouldn't want it to have it played out any differently.....
Would say this is more likely than not. From an accounting / one time charge point of view, mid to late October is the cut off to have the 60 day window and final payout in 2023. Since the selected individuals will not make it to the Nov TG, might as well cut in mid September.
I believe the OP is pretty accurate here. The layoffs of 2017 and 2019 happened right at the same time of year. The pattern looks awfully familiar and I've been around here a long time. Brace yourselves, it's going to be a rough ride this time.
17 thumbs up after 33 minutes OP is full of sh-t
Buckle up Dorothy. Kansas is about to go bye bye.
