Thread regarding Optum layoffs

OptumRx Layoffs are trending all over Social Media

Layoffs hit Optum
Former employees with UnitedHealth Group's Optum and its subsidiaries have taken to social media in August regarding an unknown number of layoffs they say are occurring across the company.

Becker's has not confirmed an exact number of employees who may have been terminated or when layoffs would be effective, and UnitedHealth Group declined to provide specific information Aug. 11. In addition, no UnitedHealth company has filed WARN documents with state regulators this month, which require most large companies to publicly report mass layoffs.

"We continually review the capabilities and services we offer to meet the growing and evolving needs of our businesses and the people we serve," UnitedHealth Group told Becker's in a statement. "As always, we will support affected team members with job placement resources and seek to deploy them where possible to any open roles within the company."

Across LinkedIn and other online sites this month, former employees with Optum and its affiliated providers have detailed layoffs taking place at their organizations:

A regional senior security manager for Optum's Pacific West region said he is "part of the worldwide reductions in force by UnitedHealth Group and Optum."

An associate director of communications at Optum said she was "part of a group of layoffs from Optum."

A vice president of primary care physician network management said her role was eliminated after a lengthy career with the company.

A director of growth strategy at Optum said he was unexpectedly terminated.

A vice president of implementation at AccuReg Solutions said she was "part of the Optum reduction in workforce."

A regional VP of quality field operations at Optum Insight said his "position got caught in Optum wide job cuts."

The director of operations for Optum in Washington state posted that he was laid off after 10 years with the company.

A senior clinical informatics consultant at Optum said she was laid off after 16 years with the company.

A manager for quality field organization at Optum Idaho said he was laid off.

Morgantown, W.V.-based MedExpress, an urgent care provider owned by Optum, is laying off nurses across nearly 150 clinics, ABC-affiliate WTAE reported.

Anonymous Reddit users claiming to be former Optum employees said in August that layoffs were impacting pharmacy positions.

Dozens of threads discussing layoffs at Optum have been posted since Aug. 7 on The Layoff, a website for anonymously discussing corporate layoffs. Users claim that employees at Optum companies such as Irving, Texas-based USMD; San Antonio-based WellMed; Seattle-based The Polyclinic; Everett (Wash.) Clinic; and Washington, D.C.-based Rally Health have all been affected.

All Change Healthcare PBA are reorged to Optum rx or Optum insight.

Good luck. Optumrx isn’t into Medicaid ffs so maybe y’all bring something (or not and be eliminated). They’re a MCO shop so it will be interesting to see how people do in the weeks ahead.

Anyone with a title like "Regional Vice President of Value Creation" should be laid off. That also goes for "Senior Marketing Director of Customer Delight" and other such silliness!
