Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

GSSO - Flat - Embarrassing 4 EC

Security Sales was flat Q/Q while Cisco had a record quarter. Let that sink in. In Q3 it was only 2% growth. In Q4 no growth. Seriously, even the weakest security competitors are growing. This is all due to the disastrous decisions that EC continues to make. Hiring the wrong people and reorganizing the organization has run the security business to no growth in one of the hottest technologies in the industry. More layoffs are coming based on that.

This problem is not unique to security and it is unfair to single out EC. It is just that security is the most competitive, most complex and so the problems at Cisco are the most visible at this BU. Welcome to the future at Cisco . Collab, DC and EN are also losing market share. To keep sales number up is being done by nickel and diming an increasingly small customer base with more and more complex and bizarre licensing and by layoffs. Competition is very capable and nimble these days, not a dinosaur relic like Cisco. The ship is holed beneath the water line and slowly sinking. Very slowly but sink it will inside next few years. I’m an older gal so to me I’ll retire soon. Feeling sorry for early in career folks.

PAN here. There is a reason she and her engineering counterpart did not last here. Their decisions were horrible. Sounds like they have not changed as my friends (Directors, Front line leaders, and ICs) still in GSSO are in disbelief of the incompetence from these two and the downward spiral that is apparently getting worse with org changes that get rid of specialists. The Duo and Umbrella sales will decline quickly.

There is no accountability on her. She has royally messed this up beyond comprehension. We have heard no plan on how all these solutions will be supported without dedicated teams such as Duo, Umbrella, Kenna, Workload, and more. No one person can know all these solutions whether you are a CSS or TSA. No one knows what they are doing. The competition will have easier wins now. The growth of those solutions will go negative which is already obvious due to no growth. We depend on our TSAs too and they are in the dark also. The numbers don’t lie. We have declined significantly due to her decisions. OP is spot on, Q3 and Q4 are directly on her and her poor decisions. Arrogant incompetence at its best.

EC is old school, can't believe her 1st priority is to sell the FW (sell the box) where our competitors are selling solution. having a large security portfolio - her strategy is to save the firewall refresh. Someone please educate her that - We don;t need VP for that. there are renewal people and Account Manager will do the refresh. At her level, put a strategy to bring all products together to sell as a solution than asking GSSO to sell box. Dam!!! .really no way for her to be at that position with out putting any real selling motion - other than her god father who is saving her to survive in GSSO. Who every it may be (can be PatM)- they are going in going in wrong direction.

It is about to get worse. The direction they are moving ahead with is utterly irresponsible. It is going to lead directly to layoffs.
