Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Text from my 16 years old daughter

I broke the news to my family that I will be losing my job after more than 2 decades at Fiserv for not moving to Lincoln!

This is her text, a 16 years old:
“you don’t have to worry bruh, first off it’s completely unreasonable to have all of their employees pick up their lives and family’s to go off to work under the excuse that “we need to be together”

so they are going to see people not wanting to move and probably just like call it off, or worst case you are financial way better than other people “

I love ❤️ my family!

Your 16 year old daughter is more smarter and more mature than fiserv, i mean first data, management.

Children can be more perceptive than we ever know. My 3 year old grandaughter visited the Alpharetta location years back and I got visitor badges. She scarfed down a Pizza and met my colleagues. Then, when leaving, she gathered up all the badges and said "these have to go back." She took them BACK to Security - they were enchanted so ..... marvelous.

Our kids are gold. So much better than our management

My kids were also supportive, doubly so as both parents worked at fiserv for many years. They were both happy to have more time with us. In hindsight, we both wondered why we gave so much to fiserv and often elevated work over family (weekends, night calls, etc). If you are in this boat currently, know that it isn't normal and you should take a hard look at what you're doing. Learn from my mistakes.

Daughter has more emotional intelligence than the entire management committee. Bravo. I left the company months ago and was shocked at the vocal support from my daughters (who usually don't weigh in on parental issues since it's not on Tik Tok)...and they said they saw the stress and hours and unfairness and wanted me to get out and find something better. Kids do notice even if they can't or don't articulate it. You carry the stress into the house and it impacts how you think/act...leaving it all behind was a great move. I didn't double my salary or find myself a lofty title, but found a great company, great team and some peace. My heart is still heavy for those awesome people who are still at Fiserv--but we are networking to get them in here or elsewhere too. There is indeed life after Frank...human cockroach.

Love this message! Can always count on children for perspective! My adult child with special needs said he was sorry, gave me a hug and told me it was his turn to get a job!!!!

I love this. My 22 year old son was so supportive as well. He told me I have always worked to be stable and keep a roof over there heads. He said my jobs have always been about them. He told me and yes I cried, this is a new start for you an opportunity to do something you love and not just something you have to do. Our children are so wise and understanding.
