There is talk of a party on 13th October. Didn’t hear if this is just for Palo Alto or global - anyone else hear anything?

Also, all the servers must be rolled out on Hillview Avenue for the other tech companies to see.

Sounds like you were in a bad team. I'm sorry that worked out for you. My hopes that you find yourself on one of the better teams within the company as this sorts out. I'm only in SBU, but it is truly awesome stuff working in R&D here.
Let’s get some piñatas that look like Magoo and other “fantastic leaders” and sm--k the sh-t out of them until their CIC money pops out.

Shall we build a playlist? Can't rely on Betsy and Magoo! Someone has suggested Queen and Another one bits the dust as an opener, I'd add The Who and Won't get Fooled again, anyone else like to contribute?

What is there for VMW employees to celebrate, given the content of the recent announcement?
Not everyone is doom and gloom, Eeyore. It's a good time to just celebrate that it was a good run. It was a good company, the work was awesome, and the teams were great to work with. And we hope that all that continues, but it may not, so celebrate it now.
If your work was not awesome, nor your team, then my sympathies.
We can use the party to celebrate the departure of numerous layers of VPs, Senior Directors and others that fill their days with busy-work - like attending all those pointless weekly meetings with their peers, but otherwise accomplish none of the key growth goals.
So I guess the answer is No, you don't know. Just wondered.
We will get party favors and gifts, i.e. swag of those BUs that will get sold in November.
Obvious question: What is there for VMW employees to celebrate, given the content of the recent announcement? Here's a summary from a new story about the Insider leak.
"It is essential to underscore that this fate is not something that individual employees, including managers, can handpick. Furthermore, the email drops another bombshell by revealing that managers are unlikely to receive any forewarning about the future status of either themselves or their teams. Uncertainty looms over the VMware workforce, and the lack of control over their destiny has made employees understandably apprehensive."
