Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Voluntary is what I am seeing

many out to retirement this week. Seems to be the common theme I am seeing.
Seems voluntary too.

Nice payout to retire into the sun afer 25 years of service.

true, retiring is just quitting your job. No big deal.

there are no payments for voluntary retirement, nothing, almost worth it to stick around and get the WFR, if your over 60 its heading your way. Had a friend that voluntary retired, they assigned a Human Resources person that person helped to be sure he retired at a date that got the most of his bonus, but nothing more came his way, no watches, no champagne for years of service, not even a form letter from Michael

If you get WFR after 25 years - it's more than you will ever get if you retire so count yourself lucky. The severance of course will likely not cover your dwindling 401k so there that but .. do what you can and forget the rest.

None that I know about have been voluntary. Definitely traditional WFR.
