I don’t like having him as my manager; should I complain to my LL5 that I want to move to another team?
The LL6 is a useless BSer who has no technical knowledge on anything and I don’t respect him.

My LL6 even parrots the mannerisms and gestures of the LL5. Sort the same way a dog and owner start to look alike.
It's best to stay low and keep on milking the company for more OT.
I agree with +1
You should go directly to your LL2 and complain about both the LL6 and the LL5 who hired him. The LL2 will appreciate your candor and either:
just keep in mind... there is this guy Murphy and his wife Karma. Murphy: just when you thought it can't get any worse, it does. Karma, be careful what you ask for , you might get it
Lie through your teeth.
You should go directly to your LL4 and complain about both the LL6 and the LL5 who hired him. The LL4 will appreciate your candor and promote you. Go ahead, try it.
He will try to poke at you by making you do demeaning stuff. Something like "take this screwdriver and remove the air filter from that M-plate". Just do what he asks while you find a new job.
Never complain about anyone. It will come right back to you and if people find out you complained, your job will be difficult. Instead, see if there are other openings with a different manager. If you like the manager and can do the job the opening requires, then tell the hiring manager, you are interested in the job and would like to apply for it. Tell him/her about your skills and wanted a different job to increase your skills. When your current manager finds out about your application, you can also tell him/her you're looking to expand your skills and wanted to grow in your career and hopefully he/she can support you.
'Send an email to Doug Fields? These are the people he seems to be trying to weed out from the company'
You're serious? Are you really serious????
I recently heard of an LL 6 and an ll5 who complained about an ll4 to upper management and HR
The ll4 got moved to a new area
The six and five were both cut in July
Shut your mouth and look for something else
Send an email to Doug Fields? These are the people he seems to be trying to weed out from the company.
Figure out a way to get along. Then, after a few years they will move on.
Be a Quiet Quitter just like everyone else at Ford. You may get promoted.
How do you think these LL get where they are at? They know very little and they don't do much to contribute to the company. All that they do is act like they know a lot, kiss a-s to the upper management. Oh, one important thing is they practice making PowerPoint presentations and show the boss how good they are.
If you do this you will definitely get promoted.
The only way to get them back is go slow. Contribute as little as you can get away with. Amazingly this would give you a higher chance of promotion at Ford!
It will pass. I had a few bad bosses over the years and none of them are my boss anymore.
@ydt - what other posters are saying is true. I have first hand experience of trying to “fix” things and do the right thing. It simply is my nature and I’m also not a BSer or liar. Unfortunately I have learned the very hard way that corporate America does not reward the people for being their true authentic self.
If I could save anyone from going through the absolute he-l I have endured, by sharing my story, maybe it wasn’t all for nothing. Lord knows I did not change nor will ever change the corporate culture.
It is beyond me how an organization could function at its best with the horrible unsaid business practices that occur at FoMoCo.
Just curious. Is this an equity LL6?
The LL5 picked him… Going to the person that picked him is like shooting yourself in the foot. You can only watch, do not try to fix it. They will fix you instead. Coast or leave. If it’s stupid do it anyways until you find another job.
Good golly. Do NOT under any circumstances complain about your LL6. If you do, you will be put on the next layoff list and your life will be made miserable while still at Ford. You need to just keep your mouth shut and deal with it or leave the company. It is sad, but it’s reality.
Do not complain. Con-Artists (BS artists ) come in a couple of flavors. Sit tight and observe to determine what flavor you have.
Simply allow the LL6 to fail. Do exactly what he asks even if it is st-pid.
Once the LL6 realizes he is failing, if he asks for help cautiously help and educate him.
If instead he finger points and throws people under the bus, then transfer/quit, it will be a never ending sh-tshow.
From my experience....
If the LL5 hired that LL6, then it is useless to go to the LL5. (It will reflect bad on the LL5 for selecting the wrong person).
Do you have a mentor? LL6 or LL5? If you do go to them and give specific examples. "complaining" is not the right path... providing 360 feedback is the way to go...
Have you talked to your LL6 about the differences? the LL6 new as an LL6 came from another area? If new as LL6, then there is some "growing up" phase. Most LL6s are not naturally good at supervising employees, they need to learn. Some get it and adjust, others don't.
Good luck.
Do not complain. Just transfer.
Yes, complaining is the ideal way to advance one's career.
