Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon was the worst experience of my career

They pushed me to the point where I just up and left without even stressing about my paycheck. I stumbled upon a job that seemed interesting enough and allowed me to branch out in my field. Granted, starting anew is not for everybody, but it worked out for me. The mental stress is a thing of the past for me, and that's something no money can buy.

FP&A in basking ridge is where the lazy people of this company work about 2 hours a day. The remainder of the day is socializing and spending 2 hours at the Gym. PowerPoint and charts are useless Grace……

It looks like VZ Bangalore has been put in motion to downvote anyone getting in the way of their new plots. They own London, the UK, Dublin, Ireland, and much of the Dow Jones.

Verizon has had the reputation of grinding through employees for years.

Many ex-AT&T people I knew went to work from them in Basking Ridge and typically lasted about 5 years before leaving or getting severed.

I worked there as a consultant for Accenture for a year and experienced the taxing environment first hand.

I’m just stuck holding out a bit longer trying to make sure to get through year end and not sc--w over my former coworkers. The only reason I haven’t just quit but the time is soon. Like so many I’m doing my job and learning someone elses old job all while being told I need to be doing some new role and making progress there.
I gave up asking for help as there is none and my manager just says they are all my job so I need to get it all done. I guess the saving grace is two of the roles were a higher band than I was and still am in so a bit less work compared to my original job.

Glad for you...this place is definitely not the same any more. There are some that are good spots and life is good. In most cases, most people are not. Lots are hanging on for their family. If you have some talent, move on, you'll land in a better spot at some point. I can never relax, even on the weekends...lots of people here are on conference calls all day, answering messages from multiple people in slack and still trying to do their job. Its all BS....Gone are the times that people were assigned a project and allowed to focus and do the job right, rather than 6 at once. For what people...???? And.....when they let you go after all the hard work you did, they will never miss you...but your kids will and have.....put your family first....I see so many people who spend their weekends working for this place, for what and why?

You are SOoooo Right!

The BS and promotions based on race, creed, color, religion, and intimate preferences have reduced the company to clown circus status from being number 1 in telecom.

The incompetents put in charge mentally beat down those beneath them who know that what is happening is not right. If any serious outside firm were to look at the operational practices within groups like FPA would be staggered by the amount of duplication and utter uselessness of much of their work products.

Speaking of work products, productivity is the lowest that I have witnessed in more than two decades inside this nuthouse.
