Layoff season upon us and just like clockwork they happen before the all hands. What a place to work. Avoid working here at all costs. Don't bother working hard they cannot afford to promote you.

If you are disabled you fall under a group protected by the ADA American Disabilities Act. If you have not signed your severance, you most definitely should contact an attorney and have them help you negotiate.
I am aware of others with disabilities that have attorneys working to negotiate severance or helping the formal employee file claims with the OWBP, EEOC, OFCCP (BD is a Federal Contractor) they have to abide by more aggressive regulations when it comes to discrimination of any type. Upper Management and HR Managers, have proven to have no regard for Civil Right Regulations.
I wish there were a way to reach you directly, even if you did sign your severance already, proving that there is a pattern of ADA discrimination, among several disabled employees, the waivers you signed could possibly be voided and you could move forward with a complaint with the OFCCP and other agencies.
@Anonymous 24 I recommend consulting with an employment attorney if you have not already. At the very least you should be able to get a free consultation.
I was recently laid off 20 days before my LTI was supposed to vest. I also am currently disabled. I am planning to ask for more severance to make up for this and wanted to know - has anyone ever had success negotiating their severance?
It's funny how this board has turned into a "bashing" board. The fact is even if those mentioned here do not want to believe it the comments are true. As I think I read, there are those who just pawn off their work, aren't on-site but 4 days a week, and have 3 day weekends almost every week and then get upset when people point out the obvious. Having said that, there are some who are at work 4 days a week and you can actually reach out to them and they will respond and do everything they can do for you and even come in if needed. The fact is, there are about 20 to 25 employees at this site who have a moral backbone and actually want to do what is right, work to make the site better, and actually do their job without being a ROADBLOCK (guess who?). It is absurd that such a small site as Mebane has so many problems...you know who you are...look in the mirror. It won't get better until a select few are gone. As @azf+1oOihM7N mentioned, "Those left behind get more work congratulations to you all" said is so very true. BD modo should be, "do more with less and abuse the ones you have who actually give a sh**". I know because I've heard around the site that there are management and the illustrious HR rep that have read this site. I'll say to them, use this as a tool. This is not just a few employees saying this...it is most of the plant. Look at yourselves and say, how can I be better (some it's hopeless), how can I help this site and these employees instead of being selfish?
Just some words of wisdom if you chose to work/stay at BD, especially at the Mebane plant. Try your hardest to get in the PS group because that is like the retirement home at the Mebane plant.
But if you can’t get in that group…Don’t work too hard, you won’t be rewarded. Don’t volunteer for new opportunities, you won’t get any recognition. Don’t stay over to meet deadlines, you won’t be rewarded. Don’t try to make yourself standout or you’ll get assigned more work while all the lazy fcks cruise on your coattail. And if you get promoted or start making too much money, just remember you now have a target on your back to be let go.
You have no value to BD and you are easily replaceable. Don’t think you are anything special because when you work at BD, you are not. You are just a du----s for thinking you can make a career here.
At my site, we had 3 who were let go. The funny thing about this is 2 of the 3 were Sr. Managers and butted heads with the site director because he always wants to use shortcuts and operate without spending money. The funny thing as I think about it more is, over the past couple of years we've had 6 managers leave, either terminated, resigned, or "retired" and in all cases, these managers butted heads with the site director. As I read in another post, "who determines who gets terminated?" At our site, the rumor is, that the leadership team discusses it to a certain point unless, of course, it involves one of them. I've also heard the site director and HR make the decisions. The ridiculous thing about this is our HR is not even a manager level or anything..just a simple worthless HR generalist, JG3 who thinks she is a JG 10. I'd hate to think they value her opinion.
It's true. BD is not a career company anymore. If you can avoid BD do it. I know in NC Lilly is scooping up former BD employees like crazy and paying much better too. I agree with the comment about "One of the Best Places" to work. Not sure who is saying that. I'd say 95% of the employees at my site wouldn't give more than 3 stars. The sad thing is some of these sites including mine could be much better if BD got rid of the right people.
BD is really going down the toilet , sorry to be so blunt this is NOT a place to work or grow. Layoffs every quarter endless restructuring and no opportunity for growth…..the leadership is destroying a good company by enriching themselves.
BD was once a distinguished company renowned for its unwavering commitment to core values. However, in light of recent shifts in leadership, these values now seem confined to mere PowerPoint slides, no longer reflected in the actions of current leaders.
The current strategy primarily revolves in "enhancing profitability and streamlining operations," lacking any clear vision for long-term growth or a commitment to investing in innovation.
The statement about "if you're a favorite do not fear" is so true. You can abuse other employees, not do your job, not come in to work or if you do its the 9-930 timeframe and then gone at 4. BD could save a lot by looking at the salary employees who do this. I'm still praying for more cuts and specifically the "dead weight" and one bully that plagues our site....TB, BB, RK, JD, AC, and other who pawn their work off on others. If you read this and figure out these are your initials and work in NC then you've known all along that you are a burden.
I wonder if investors are taking note of the number of layoffs. It definitely doesn't bode well for the company as a whole. It's like BD can never get it together. Look at the competitor pages on this site. NONE of them are active the way this one is.
It’s corporate deciding how many heads or $$$ to cut but not who to cut , nor is it our so called HR. Team Leaders decide who gets cut. So if you’re the favorite do not fear. That 2nd warning or even final warning doesn’t mean a thing. Rock out with yer medical device out cause you’ve earned it!
So many questions...How does multiple layoffs per year, EVERY year equate to "One of the Best Places" to work? And who exactly is providing BD with 5 star reviews on all of those job boards? Why would any sane employee stay there? It's a hot mess!
I'd like to know how they go about determining who gets laid off. Local management here had an impromptu meeting and there were several employees upset. Management says, "out of our hands" I call BS because some are critical to operations yet deadweight continues to thrive. I have to believe corporate says we need this from your site and then they pick who they want. The ridiculous thing about this is our HR "wanna be" wore a pant suit today like it matters how she looks when she is laying people off...In our case those people still see a bad person no matter how she is dressed. She probably thought I need to look professional when I'm ending someone's career. Knowing her she probably said I am so sorry about this while laughing inside her dark soul. Wish they'd end her career...
For real BDB has not been doing any promotions since Q1 FY23. I do not seen when they will go back to so promotions anytime soon
And those left behind…. Get more work! Congratulations to you all!
