Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Three days a week mandatory starting October

Hearing three days a week in the office mandatory starting in October. Not sure how it is going to be enforced, probably honor system, but the messaging is coming soon. If you're deemed a remote employee, not sure you're exonerated anymore.

The whole idea is a fiasco.
Employees are asked to come back to gutted buildings and facilities.

The neighborhood thing is stupid too. You will be outfitted with 90s cubes coupled with a mismatch of used low end equipment. Also it's not done for YOU. They want to control what building/office you go in to. it's classic segregation and zoning.

Healthy companies invest in their facilities, buildings and employee amenities. Not have a sell-off

Just a way to get people to quit so they don’t have to pay severance. Otherwise why force something now that they never did before the pandemic. And don’t give me the collaboration bullsh-t. Not buying any of it. We only used to come in one day a week for years before and now all of a sudden that’s not good enough any more.

@gvn+1oPAUNbd I have calls outside core hours because I'm flexible. If they want to enforce anything then it will cost them my flexibility.

Don't forget Dell got rid of a lot of Global real estate during lockdown. They are not looking to restart renting just yet. Only where the own or cannot get our of the lease.

If they do this, I don't want to see any quarterly broadcasts pre-tapped from ELT' s homes. They better come back in with the rest of us and, heck, do the update live like pre 2020

Why would going into an office change you not taking calls outside core working hours? Do think the phone and internet turn off after you leave the office? I think the problem is you can’t manage your time. Not going back to the office.

BTW the RTO 3 day a week mandatory is indubitably false. They’ll have neighborhoods across the globe done by October and if you want to go in you’d sit in your neighborhood. The message is still about being flexible.

I can't wait. At the moment I have a lot of calls outside my core working hours. Good riddance to them. I hope they can find some time in my calendar within my core working hours because otherwise forget it.
