Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

Where is T?

The last time I remember T speaking at an internal meeting was in the spring. Where is she? The EC announced layoffs and she wasn’t there. They’ve been executing groups one by one, and she’s no where to be found. Anyone else noticing this? Where is the board? I’ve never seen such a hands off CEO while her company is in ruins.

To the last comment before mine, Funny you say that. Jose started his career at TIAA. He comes off very competent. I think he would be next in line if TIAA decided to move on from T and wanted to hire internally. He checks off the “diversity” checkbox as well. I heard that Nuveen is only bright spot at TIAA and is keeping everything afloat. Anyone on the financial side care to comment to the validity on that?

She is a puppet CEO. The guy who runs NUVEEN is the real CEO. She does Instagram and marketing. He runs the show. They just don't wanna tell you.

The way TIAA has always paid their execs. it really doesn't matter that much to them whether they succeed or not, as long as they hang onto the job, they get the money. You see, they always tell us that our executives get no more than other executives at similar companies (why do they even get that much? don't they share the passion of "serving those who serve the greater good") However, what they never tell you is that other executive at least have some market risk since they get paid quite a bit in stock. At TIAA.....they get paid. PAID. PAID. All in cash, none in stock, so ZERO market risk and most of it gets put away in tax deferral plans for them......Also, did you know they are not subject to the same rules as us regarding annuitization? They can take their huge pile of money anytime. No 10 years payout for them. The same goes for the hand-picked "look the other way" academics on the board making $500k per year for three Zoom meetings a year. They can take all their money too. No lock-ups, no Ten year pay out. Employees and participants at TIAA are so screwed it's not even funny.

Diversity—ha. If you hit 40 get ready for your career to be in decline at TIAA. If you’re 50 plan on being shown the door sooner than later. Unless of course you’re a white male still faking it.

Diversity only matters at TIAA if your black or white—there’s no in-between. The Hispanic leadership for a company with main hubs in highly Hispanic populated areas is appalling. What a joke, just don’t be Hispanic and successful at TIAA or they’ll send their HR hitt team to te--orize you into leaving.

Word on the street is she is a no-show for important internal financial meetings as well. Someone might soon become the Meghan Markle of financial services, no real substance but always available for a celebrity photo op.

Quit asking where she is and what she does etc. She is a black woman and that’s all that matters. You are being discriminatory by asking such questions.

Oh look another two awards for T for simply being a blac woman. Oh look another chance for her to blather on about racial and gender nonsense. Is it all she can talk about? Oh look a pic of her looking like the Joker in a purple suit and bright green shirt.

The diversity bullsh-t is blatantly obvious when the CEO posts picks of only African Americans with her. So glad I left when I did. Such a terrible and hostile culture and they lead by fear. Surprised the EC hasn’t done anything. Carnegie would be so disappointed. T needs to knock her ego down a few notches.

She is not CEO in any way other than title. She was hired because she is a blac woman. She is there blather on about being blac and being a woman. She is there for d-mb awards that nobody has ever heard of that revolve around being a blac CEO. She is a diversity hire plain and simple. When Roger left the board was stuck. You can’t go backwards on the diversity train. Next logical step blac woman. Question is where do they go next?

She’s accepting awards she nominated herself for and posting on instagram. Or hobnobbing with celebrities at events. Maybe she’s the one that should return to office.
