Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Cracks are starting to show

Is anyone hitting these crazy quotas?
Management is putting a lot of pressure on across the buisness as sales are not happening like they should and numbers are a mile off.
The thinking is by begging and bombarding customers they will sell more but its just sending a sense of desperation.
I sense panic from senior ranks which is a sign of things to come.

If you wanna know why we're not selling anything it's because we charge $30k for two small NVMe drives as if it's brand new technology, or $25k for two network cards for a SAN... or the fact that Dell is consistently 20-30% higher than every single competitor we go against even AFTER our "crazy 72% off in quarter discounting" bullsh-t... but it's worth it because guess what... The Gartner charts say we're the best!!! Bunch of bs and this company has no clue. Just a bunch of old C-suite dudes trying to run a modern tech company.

they are also aggressively capping sales commissions...very bad sign. Dell doesn't want good sales people in the field because they cost too much, only people getting jobs are college hires. They are cheap and will fly out as soon as they get trained, get some experience and another job offer. Dell did a great job of ki-ling EMC and now they are trying to get everyone to quit. Joke

Quotas are high because they want more people to quit so they don't have to pay severance packages. Expect another layoff at the end of the year. They will take the top rev producing customers and form the new Enterprise, about 20% of existing DTS/Enterprise. With the rest - they will merge Commercial and Enterprise = the new commercial and run it in the ground. Comm has been AWFUL since the merger. Face it, servers are all the same, race to the bottom with price, Dell has been surpassed by Pure and is about to get schooled by VAST....Dell DPS products have not changed in years, they are even partnering with Commvault these days. Who gives a cr-p about laptop sales, they are all the same, VMW is a thing of the past, they will turn to cr-p at Broadcom. If you are not making your numbers, ask for a package, if you don't get it, get out asap. Dell is trying to get margins in line because revenues will not make it. The goal is to get Dell back to the same size before the EMC acquisition.

Time to go. Mikie bought the EMC powerpoint BS. Jon Bernie selling out Dell’s loyal customers to his relatives and buddies in the channel. Can’t keep mercenaries loyal, Jonny boy. The answers are definitely not coming from the short-people middle management with their 20 years of blissful ignorance. More layoffs coming Christmas. Time to slide away.

It's mostly due to inflation. Higher costs for products means fewer products purchased means fewer products produced and serviced. Our economy headed off a cliff. Dell needs to be prepared for it.

Clearly the EMC ballast is bringing Dell to the bottom of the ocean. As soon as you get rid of it your swim will be easier..

I don’t think you understand. Dell was at the end of its rope and Mikey knew it. The EMC merger brought Dell back in the game. If you keep the same Dell fools at the top, Clark, Fe--h, Artlidge, you’ll never get to where we need to be. Same people, same story. Get rid of them and we will make some progress.

Cant wait for the day the EMC sr.dir in new org are kicked out for not performing. It is a shock that they are even allowed to continue after failing this year. Second chances should not be given to everyone.

When EMC was acquired it was a leader in all quadrants, now we lead in none and are steadily going backwards!

Dell is great at "Fudging the sales numbers", any numbers that are out there are hard to believe entirely. Trust your gut people! Any Employee can see that its a sinking ship and it's just a matter of time!

If you look at some of the Gartner Magic Quadrant information as well, that gives you a good indication to where the company is heading! When EMC was acquired it was a leader in all quadrants, now we lead in none and are steadily going backwards!

and I've never seen a company who hates their employees more than dell. It is sad beyond description.

This should you that the company is obsolete and its business model does not make sense. Indeed, everyone who is enlightened enough and reaches this kind of conclusion should be looking for another employer.

dell wants to change direction,. unfortunately the captain of that new org doesnt recognize that his leaders are drunk on titles, without any skills to lead or manage people or give direction to the new product.
Wait for 12 months to see culling in the new org

I'm 63 and volunteered for a package last Feb. I worked almost 40 years in Mainframe, and I've never seen a company who hates their employees more than dell. It is sad beyond description. I don't even know what to say. Everyone go find an employer who appreciates you. The days of working hard and customer satisfaction are over. I wish I had the power to do something for all of you. The business was so good to me over the years. This is not criticism to younger workers. Many of you would have fit in and done well in the 80's and 90's. The times have changed for the worse.
