Should I quit now or wait for a potential Q4 layoff. Everyday is a struggle to work, my management is very toxic and hostile and from a political sense, nothing happens to them even when there is so much turnover within the group.
Thoughts?

Agreed on the purple thing. How much more cutesy could it be? Grade school. 3bs were infinitely better.
When will you people get it? Towers are the dinosaurs of the industry, soon to be fossilized. Why do you think we’re getting out of the tower business?
The destruction of what was once a great company has been hard to watch. The whole "purple" concept was a joke. Jay is too worried about what kind of socks he's wearing, Schlanger is just a complete jerk and never really fit into the culture, Laura would eat her young to get ahead, and the rest just follow along. Y'all need to bring Ben back out of retirement, sell all the Fiber BS and focus on what Crown was built on.
Just start looking now and quit if you find something that you think is better. Don’t wait for a severance that may never come if you’re unhappy.
Never quit without a job offer or retirement in hand. It took me 3 months to find a job after I took severance here.
The purple CC is the new scarlet letter in the business. Potential employers of CC alumni are reaching out and asking questions. The purple cancer is being avoided by others.
@5stk+1oQCpk3E Loyalty is a thing of the past... and that's not specific to Crown, that's everywhere. It doesn't matter if you are a hard worker or a bootlicker, at the end of the day you are just a number to whatever company you work for. They can (and will) show you the door if it means there is a chance the stock price will go up as a result. The only loyalty you should have is to yourself and your family.
Y’all cray! The purple way is the only way. no one really gives signing bonuses.
No companies have benefits like ours.
This is a rough patch, nothing more, especially for Canonsburg.
Where’s your CCI pride? How do you expect loyalty from Crown if you are not loyal?
There is clearly NO talent at the canonsburg office. The “managers” there are unskilled, lack common sense and do nothing but busy work to feel important all while making their employees slaves to do their dirty work. Yes, I am talking about the Finance and Accounting managers that reside there.
They should just sell those buildings while commercial space still has some value and send the family reunion at Southpointe to the soup line where they belong!
Even the EMT, who knows very little, knows there is zero talent there!
Exactly if they would've cut that cr-p out 10 years ago and let some if the "outsiders" be heard they wouldn't be in the position they're in. Half the mgmt is related. If a Mgr wants to sc--w ya they can do it across multiple departments and functions. These are the people choosing people for layoff. Insane.
HR is truly BS now!
This is why all other offices call the Southpointe office In---t, PA. How is everyone related, dating, or exes? I could understand if they knew wireless, or well...anything. What a mess! Who allowed this? Who allows it to continue?
I quit before layoffs because I was being asked to write people up for things that didn't happen. While my mgrs cousin and her best friend (they were all in each other's weddings) sat in the group working on their side business. It was sickening. Just sickening.
HR was an absolute joke. Crown is in the position they're in for exactly that kind of bs. It's rampant throughout, especially at southpoint in finance, sales and property.
Except this last layoff didn't involve any of that. They cut entire teams with a lot of good talent. Several that knew the company and their jobs inside and out. The last layoff was about money. Nothing more, nothing less. The next round with 300 selected members in November will be the same.
Yes, you read that right. That's the number and the time frame. I can't give more than that.
It’s so hard to fire anyone especially if you have been an ok worker. You’re boss will first need to start documenting all the mistakes and how they try to give you feedback. That takes a good 3-6 months. Then you will go on a PIP that should last 6 weeks to a month. Then you can get fired. That path is if your boss even wants you fired. Most probably don’t or will fail at getting enough evidence. You can probably tack on another 3 months of you giving excuses “I’m depressed” , “home life is tough” etc. So before you quite realize you can essentially “quit” and still get all the benefits of a job. Take that time to apply for jobs, relax and get a new job.
The scariest thing about waiting for a layoff is if you don't actually get layed off? That said, if you are not happy, quitting might be the better course of action. As others have said, just be prepared, look at the job market, have your resume ready to go and you will be fine. It can be exhausting working in a toxic environment and really su-k the joy out of life.
I’m pretty sure they want us to quit and that’s why they’re making our lives miserable. They don’t want to pay for severance if they don’t have to.
@1ssl+1oQCpk3E, this is true. Crown does not want managers providing references outside of dates of employment using company email. However, there is nothing stopping managers from giving personal recommendations using their personal emails.
I too know of a manager that was fired for providing a detailed letter of recommendation. But truth be told, he was fired for other things. The writing of letters of recommendation was just the easiest excuse for business support to use against him.
@1ssl+1oQCpk3E Could this also be because the company is protecting itself from (perceived) liability? This is the first time I've heard of this.
Regarding references, Crown apparently does not allow references. If one is provided the person providing it can be terminated. My manager was terminated for giving 5 references. It's ridiculous for the company to take that stance. It's like they don't want you to work anywhere else yet they lay you off. If I had known this before hired I would have taken the other offer I had.
Use every hour of PTO. I also just quit.
No. Plan out your PTO, keep your head up, update your resume and get your professional recommendations lined up. Make a point to connect with your crown network and reflect on what was once great… it may take some time to get out even if your mind is made up.
Better have a job lined up. Depending on the the roles you may be looking for awhile.
I quit. I’m not waiting for a layoff. In fact, I got a singing bonus at my new job. It wasn’t as much as what severance would have been but good enough for me.
Don’t quit. Take the pay check, do nothing. Use the time to find something and then move on. That’s my plan.
